But Mitchell and Gobert won't get Bron/Davis money. They'll get what they make but Bron will have to pass on some team giving him 90% of the cap. Right now he might give up a couple mill. Will he give up 50 mill a year?

I'm saying the union says no. LeBron doesn't enter the picture.

Of course they say no. I don't want to sound like a tycoon cowboy, but the player union ruined the NBA. Obviously the owners were selfish and slow to concede profits to players. But together their combined CBA resolutions over the the past 25 years moved the league to the crappy place it is today. It is over-regulated with loopholes. Meaning the super teams have even greater advantages if they manage to assemble a super team (and clearly the superstars cracked the code). They should've all agreed to a generous hard cap earlier on, which moves up as a percentage of league profits.

Now the league is going to look to things like mid-season tournaments to build interest on top of a flawed foundation. Which is fine by me, cause any sort of novelty (even the rather silly over-thought play-in) seems to make things more interesting.

But in the end it still comes back to 10 perennially crappy teams, 10 teams who are closer to tread-milling than breaking forward, and the rest are a range of contenders amongst your 2 or 3 super contenders. Meaning at least half of the league is simply not worth caring about. So why all the rules for parity if there really isn't any parity?

The mediocre players of the NBA are paid more handsomely than any other sports' (completely) mediocre players. Fans just get jipped in the end. The NBA standards for on-court performance have dropped below even having to play the game. But hey, good for Felicio and Otto.

That's the guy I wanted, over Donovan too. We'll see how he does as a head coach. Not too impressed with BD his first season.

I disagree. I think they are very close. If anything, Zach was even more dominant this year.

Yes agreed. I see LaVine doing the exact same thing if he replaces Booker. Both guys are interchangeable.

Booker is a little more of a playmaker and Zach more of a scorer, but yeah. He absolutely roasted LAC with Kawhi & PG both healthy.

Udoka is the guy we should have hired a year ago. Donovan is as meh as it gets.

The union didn't make the max salary you're complaining about so much. The owners themselves did. You can thank people like Jerry Reinsdorf, who hated how much he had to pay Jordan.

And Bulls fans should actually be the last ones to be anti-max salary. Imagine how utterly hosed this franchise would be now. They'd still be stuck in something absurd like a 10 year/$500million contract with Derrick Rose.

Honestly, after about 2 decades of disappointing Bulls basketball, I could’ve cared less about being stuck with a bigger albatross Rose salary: although a 5y limit sounds right for all parties, and a cap-amnesty clause (while org is still on hook for salary) in case of significant injury/decline. The solutions to that seem like no-brainers compared to the next backfire idea they come up with (cough.. the super max). I never understood why ORL had to ride the Grant Hill pine to the very end. Sure- pay his money, but why punish the cap space?

The cba agreements are all two-way negotiated conditions. The union negotiated the state of max, mle and rookie scale contracts. The salary trade rules were probably concocted by league reps. I don’t see it changing cause everybody’s paid so handsomely (what’s another 300m for Lebron). Seeing as you could safely argue a majority of the league is “overpaid” in a pure dollar:performance ratio (while Lebron, Luka, etc. are clearly underpaid), it only makes sense that a large player union would strongly support it. They’re basically taking a cut of Lebron’s, Durant’s, Curry’s would-be money. Seeing as Lebron is probably approaching a billion in career earnings, I doubt he cares. Truth is he’s taken a huge cut for the league’s re-distribution, which is unlike any normal professional circumstance.

The Zach hate has to stop. The guy had a TERRIBLE roster surrounded by him. If he had cp3 and some teammates that had some dog in them I bet the bulls could be in the same place as the suns. Zach is a star and he will get his respect next season as long as AK does right by him.

Man Atlanta is going finals.

I thought last year was bad with Miami making it. Atlanta has no business being there but every series they make teams play to their strengths.

Seemingly no one can figure Trae Young out.

Either cam Payne or tony snell and Dunn will get a ring this year….. I’m sorry but garpax incompetence has crippled this franchise. Not just bad drafting but a horrible development staff. They banked on just making a profit more than making a good team for too long and we will feel that affect for sometime.

the Suns and Hawks Really goes to show how important having shot making and play making really is in the playoffs.

and I cant stand Trae Young and the Hawks. Mainly because I feel their team is like ours but with a superstar pg.

But its pure respect to keep winning like this when people think you should be losing. If they get to the finals or win it all, it would be the most unlikely champion in history in my opinion.

We had a chance in 2018 to tank right and nab a potential generational player and we completely failed.

The guy is like 60% choke.

But you know he will erupt for like 35-40 in one of these games and everyone will give him a break again. But I have seen this movie too often to know that Middleton just aint it.

I like the fact that Hawks went right for the 14 Warriors build with little hesitation or waver from the 3D plan.

They don’t even have their young wing prospects and #6 pick playing.

A terrific game. Hard to believe that Ben Simmons made the 2021 All Star game and that Trae Young did not. Very hard. As for the Bucks, man they need their #2 to show up more consistently. Giannis always delivers. Yeah he might miss some free throws but he's good for 30/10 every game and defense too. But MIddleton ... in the past 8 games he has laid 4 shooting eggs, with games of 6 for 23, 7 for 20, 9 for 26, and then again 6 for 23. It's asking a lot of even a former MVP to carry a #2 who bricks half his games.

Hawks are going to terrorize the East for a while.

I remember not much longer than a year ago, lots of arguments on who had the better core, Bulls or Hawks. Seems impossible now that this question was ever asked.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong
