Interesting. I am going to throw out a minor quibble with the graphic though. Miami can still reach the 7th seed hypothetically so I don't know why they left them out there.

If it is, this is basically waiving the white flag on the #8 seed in order to rest up for the playoffs. If we lose to Cleveland it's highly unlikely that we'll catch Atlanta.
I'm all for it though. Might as well give the whole team time off so everyone has a chance to heal nagging injuries.

I was hoping for a Chicago/Boston 7 game series. That would be amazing for the fan base right now.

I think it's more about protecting the ninth seed/HC in the 9/10 game than giving up on the eight since the Bulls play the Heat on Wednesday on the second night of a back to back. And while it highly unlikely the Bulls catch Atlanta, there's a chance they can catch Orlando.
If the Bulls lose to the Cavaliers as appears likely, they can get to 39 wins by beating the Heat at home in their hardest game left and then beating the Wizards and 76ers. The Bulls actually have the tie breaker against the Magic, so they'd need them to go 1-3, which sounds crazy but they have Hawks/Celtics/Pacers/Hawks, which are all non-tank teams. And in the event the Hawks won their next three games and the Magic lost to the Celtics or Pacers, the Hawks would still have incentive to win on Sunday, leaving four fairly tough games for the Magic.
So root for the Hawks tomorrow.

We have 2 easy games, almost certainly we'll be 39-43.
Atlanta has 2 easy games, Brooklyn & Philly, then Orlando. Assuming 2-1, they'll be 39-43.
Head to Head, we've split 2-2.
I read at this point it goes to Division, and ATL is 2nd in an easy division while we're in a brutal division and are 5th.
Losing that game to Atlanta when their starting lineup was injured and we were full strength really hurt us. We lost to a team starting Keaton Wallace, Vit Krejci, and David Roddy.

IIRC, the 2nd tiebreaker is conference record, not division record, but Atlanta has the edge, there, too, so the result is the same.
Basically, the Bulls need to win out and ATL needs to go 1-2 for the Bulls to get up to 8, most likely.

15th if team makes the playoffs with 2 play-in wins, 12th if they lose one of those games.
Edit: I didn't see the Mavs, who will now be tied for 12th with the Bulls.

How does this work, are we 13th now? Or is there a coinflip like a few years back.
