Maybe should post this in trade thread, but it is related to Melo. Are our non-guaranteeds something that NYK are going to want for sure in any trade? Any chance of getting rid of Randolph? Not sure what NYK would be willing to facilitate here.

Thanks smart basketball people.

Amnesty Boozer. Trade Snell, MDJ, all the unguaranteed contracts, and the 2015 first round pick for Melo.

Exactly. Doesn't matter if NY doesn't want to take Boozer, they don't have to. I think we'll have to add another pick or two to your proposal, but that should get it done.

Would love to not trade Jimmy, and be able to bring in Melo via (non-Boozer) sign and trade.

I agree that defenders will be needed. Kirk back for the vet min to scrap against smaller guards? But who else will be available? Could Ronnie Brewer resign after a trade & getting cut? Thabo?

I don't see us getting him in an S&T without giving up one of McBuckets or Mirotic.

If the package coming back is something centered around Boozer, Snell and a future 1st, I probably just let Melo walk if I'm Phil.

Let's be real, people spent the last 48 hours sullying Derrick's character and integrity over something that didn't even happen. I'm sorry, but folks deserve to get called out for that. As was reported, Derrick and his camp had already reached out to Melo, there was no reason to believe he wasn't part of the recruiting efforts just because of a generic, throw away line about not recruiting. It's all good though, glad Derrick, Jo and Taj stepped up, hopefully we see Melo in a Bulls uniform.

That's a load of bull. People reacted to a very poorly timed comment directly from his mouth. I firmly believe that all that outrage helped get him into the meetings today. Rose was killed all over the internet and radio for his comments. Now all of us here are Bulls fans, and everyone here wants what's best for this team - and what's best for the team is that Rose is part of it (on and off the court). To suggest that people get some sort of high from "sullying his character" is such a bad misrepresentation of this fan base. We're a passionate group. Let's not turn on each other with stupid accusations just because there is a disagreement.

Now we've heard that Rose not only showed up to the dinner, possibly worked out for Melo, and dropped by dinner. That's outstanding news and shows that he is firmly invested in the team's future. It's great to see that he made that effort, and it very well could be the difference.

Pretty much this.

It's bad he couldn't that out beforehand but hey he showed up so that's great.

Seriously though, if we get Melo over the line, we the fans are forever indebited to Joakim Noah.

He had an incredible 2013-14 season. All NBA 1st team, DPOY, and now, potentially being one of the drivers in this recruiting process.

This man bleeds Chicago, and it's clearly evident why he is so highly valued by the organisation.

Red Larrivee wrote:Frank Isola wrote some interesting stuff:

"Gibson's presence is also significant because it has previously been reported that the Bulls would attempt to trade Gibson in order to create additional salary-cap space for Anthony. However, the Bulls stressed to Anthony that in order to be a legitimate title contender it is important for the club to retain both Gibson and Jimmy Butler.

According to a source, Anthony wants both players to stay even if it means that Anthony will have to sign for significantly less than the maximum the Knicks can offer, $129 million over five years. Coincidentally, the Knicks essentially gutted their roster to acquire Anthony from the Denver Nuggets in February of 2011, and Anthony realizes that he would have to make financial sacrifices if he wants to pursue a title with the Bulls."

So Melo is legit about taking a pay cut.

Indeed. Melo caring about this stuff at all only makes sense if he is serious about Chicago.

If he was just using them to get a max from NY (which was never in doubt anyway push come to shove) he could care less about taking the charade this far.

And unless he is totally dense - and he isn't he has managers to crunch the numbers for him - he will also know that keeping these players will mean less than max for him, depending on what kind of S&T we can do.

This is very good news all in all.

Don't really think it's a bad misrepresentation at all.

Case in point: when I heard that Rose was at the meeting today, I thought to myself, "I bet there are posters at Realgm who will somehow use this to crap on Rose." Within 3 seconds of clicking on this thread (Melo #12), I saw this:

sco wrote:DRose confused FO by saying, I plan on attending the Melo meeting if I feel 100%. He showed, then injured his knee during handshakes

It's become the cool thing on this board to rip on Rose no matter what. Even news that Rose was part of the meeting (which this board crapped its collective pants screaming so loudly for Rose to do) was cause to make a joke about him getting injured again. Woohoo! High five everyone!

By the way, that wasn't the only knee injury joke that was made after news broke that Rose was at the meeting. Also, people bitched about how long he was at the meeting and what he wore to it. I wish I was joking about this, but I'm not.

Again, it's the cool thing on this board to trash Rose. So it's not a misrepresentation to say people here get a high off of it.

Bonus: Derrick Rose is Kiyan's (Melo's son) favorite basketball player

He can kiss my ass then if he wants either one. Just amny Booze, trade mdj and the non Gs and sign melo outright then and he gets nothing if he doesnt want the non Gs and mdj (and maybe snell too if it works out)
