I love Ayo. But he might have more value than Coby right now, and I would argue that cobys skill set compliments our needs better than ayo, who partially duplicates the skills of Lonzo and AC.
Love Ayo. But also have the sense we're being swayed a bit by our emotions. Understandable but not advisable.
We have a window here. If Ayo helps you get a big upgrade at 4 you do it instantly.
I am against moving Ayo. Unless it's part of a package for an elite player. As good of an addition as Grant or Barnes or someone like that would be, they're not 'elite' talent. When a player is showing as many good signs as Ayo has on such a cheap deal, you don't undervalue him. He's got championship-level role player written all over him imo.
Agreed. And it's no mistake the team is utilizing him like they would in the playoffs - as another Caruso. They put him right back in the game with 5 fouls in crunch time. That would be Lonzo/Caruso on the court in healthier days, but the playoffs is where you want as many Lonzo/Carusos as you can get. There's just way too much talent on the wings these days.
And I don't think there's any way that Coby is going to be on this team after Zach gets his (super)max deal. If Coby is on the team next season, Bulls are going to be in another Gaffords situation where a guy is good but they're just not going to pay that next contract. And we'll get to enjoy another offseason and then half a season of Coby trade talks. Fun!
I rather skip the drama and consolidate Coby's rising talent right now for that 4 upgrade. At least there's a chance Bulls will keep Ayo beyond next season. That is not happening with Coby unless Zach plain ditches us in the offseason.
