Agree 100%
Hes a fine player, but I don't see all star level player like JJJ/Bagley/Ayton/Bamba could all get to.
Just seems like he's a really solid player. Which is fine, but IMO after the season we had you need to shoot for a better than solid player. Even if he has flaws in his game like a Bamba or back issues like MPJ.
Check out his numbers vs. his main comp Horford on Tankathon. His offensive and rebounding numbers are noticeably better as a freshman vs. Horford in his junior year. Horford was a slightly better passer (both are good) and a better defender, which comes naturally as you add experience in college. To me the probability of Carter being better than Horford is higher than the probability of Bamba actually developing an above average offensive game.
Carter doesn’t have the agility/fluidity of a Bagley, but his length and strength more than make up for it. Great fit next to Lauri IMO.
JJJ has many of the same attributes with better rim protection but not as good instincts/floor game. You take him over Carter due to the tremendous upside. I probably take Bagley for upside too, but at this point I take Carter over Bamba I think
