Probaly more likely a deadline deal with a contender. Would rather have that anyway with the 21 draft.Chi town wrote:Wonder if Otto could get us more now or at deadline? Expiring and a late 1st?

Maybe Minny?
OPJ+#44 for #17 and James Johnson(cap dump)?

Definitely not Minnesota. There is no chance the Wolves trade #17 for one year of a very expensive guy who has literally missed over half the games from the last two seasons.

That is definitely fair, though OPJ when healthy would be a good fit as a versatile defender and shooter for Minny. JJ doesn't seem to be a fit?

Face it, people. He's not going anywhere.
As for Kemba, Conley & co... if we're willing to bring in a small, ball-dominant, starter-level combo guard, you know it's bye bye to either Zach or Coby.

I actually think OPJ can be good starting player for us at PF. He is tall enough, speed aint a problem, he can shoot, he can defend.
For now I would keep only Zach, Coby, OPJ, Gafford, Mokoka, rest are up for grabs/trade..

Mokoka? Why him?

We must be talking about a different player. You won't see the current Otto Porter defending NBA 4's with his busted up hip.
Otto is damaged goods anyway. At this stage, anything he brings to the table is a bonus. He has been a true disaster on this team.

When he was healthy, he was great, but it was extreme how much he was injured.

Johnson was actually a very good fit and played really well with the Wolves after he was acquired. The front office and coaching staff went out of their way to say how excited they were to have him. While I think there is a good chance he gets moved as salary filler in a trade, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Wolves keeping him until the trade deadline.
With respect to Porter, I think the Wolves would actually prefer to keep Johnson and his lower contract and that's before adding a 1st.

Wolves would do it in a heartbeat if Porters salary actually matched Johnson. They are trying to win now, and rightfully so with next years pick gone. Porter is a perfect fit. But the deal doesn’t work as given.

I wouldn't be so sure about the Wolves wanting Porter over Johnson. Johnson's production in his 14 games in Minnesota were better than Porter's 14 games in Chicago, plus Johnson was considered a great veteran presence who provided a needed toughness to the rotation.

No I am sure. Porter is a great fit on any star laden team because he add 15-18 pts playing off the ball more or less. He can shoot, pass and play defense. Injury concerns are his only real problem (besides getting overpaid by Wash). JJ is a career backup at age 33 who missed half the season the last two years, 14 games doesn't change that. It's not even close.

Lucky for you that you get to keep Porter, and I'll be just as happy that the Wolves will not be getting him. Everybody wins.
