#9 for Conley

We've had this discussion before, and this is likely assuming Memphis is in a position to take Rose. It fills a need for next season, and you get a playmaker with great potential for filling up the stat sheet. Some people hate him, some love him, so would you deal the 9 for Conley?

Keep in mind he was only 20 years old last year before calling him a bust; and there's rarely a point guard to come in that early and tear the league up. Here's a few notable games from his rookie year(that everyone considers a bad year for some reason):

He'd be a very interesting option to groom if we hired D'Antoni. Also, Conley's dad is a Chicago guy and said on the radio that it was Mike and his' dream to be a Bull one day.

I say definitely. He is a much better prospect than DJ Augustin IMO. We really don't have a chance to get an elite level PG anytime soon and this is as close as we can get. He is smart and quick. If he can get a consistent jumper he can be a top 10 PG easily. Tyrus and Joakim need a PG like Conley that can get in the lane and make something happen for them.

I think it would take more than the #9 pick to get Conley (he was the #4 pick last year, after all).

No harm in taking a run at him if the Grizzlies take Rose, but I wouldn't count on being able to get him.

I don't think Conley is special -- he had some decent games, but he also had a bunch of ones where he looked like he had no clue. He's not a scorer on the Paul/Williams/Parker level, and he's not a playmaker on the Nash/Kidd/Paul level. But he's probably worth asking about if you are the Chaicago GM

In the end, I don't see the Grizzlies taking Rose -- I think they are more likely to go with Beasley (if both are on the board), since they actually need a PF much more than they do a PG. So IMO, this whole idea is probably moot.

Well, I would take Conley every time over Augustin. Maybe you throw in a second or two to make it look more fair.

Regardless, this discussion relies on so many assumptions its not realistic at all:
Memphis is in a position to take Rose
Memphis actually takes Rose
The Bulls want to upgrade PG
The Bulls don't trade the pick
The Bulls find a taker for Hinrich

If Memphis moves Conley, which in itself is a pretty subjective argument, then they move him for a lot more than that.

I don't like Conley at all. I'd still consider doing this trade, because this draft class stinks.

I'd only do this if we hired D'Antoni as our coach. If not I wouldn't do this trade at all.

I'm not a fan of Conley, I really don't see him being that good of a point gaurd in the league. But if he will be anything special in this league, it will be in an offense that is run similar to the Suns.

Agreed. For a high lottery pick point guard, he's ass. He's a late first round talent and always was. I'd take Augustin or Westbrook over him in a heartbeat.

I'd trade the 9 pick straight up for Carl Landry, let alone Mike Conley. There is no one at 9 who will help the Bulls. There are so many guys out there who are cheaper who could help us that the pick is merely a waste of cap space. A second round pick is as valuable this year imo as at least you don't have to give a gauranteed contract.

I will retract this if Gordon or Mayo falls to 9, but then again, how many shooting guards are on the roster?

Glad to see I'm not the only person who shared these veiws.

I always thought he and his father were pretty smart for coat tailing Oden into the pro's since High School days though.

Sorry for letting a little math get in the way of perception, but:

Carl Landry. 2007 2nd round pick. 31st overall. 8.1 ppg, 61% fgp, 5 rpg, in 17 minutes per game.

Joakim Noah. 9th pick 2007. 6.6 ppg, 48% fgp, 5.6 rpg, in 21 minutes per game.

Who was the more effective player?

Now, I'm not saying the Bulls need or want Carl Landry. I just don't see anyone at #9 in next years weaker draft being more productive.

Would you deal #9 for Conley
