This is the ultimate, "no matter how, get it done" sport.
with that said....I'm glad we held on and are now 5 out of our last 7.
that's a great place to be knowing that we're throwing Greinke and Kershaw next.
this year so far,
Zach Greinke 2.01 ERA, 3.15 FIB, 1.131 WHIP, 7-1 record
Josh Beckett 2.43 ERA, 4.00 FIB, 1.024 WHIP, 3-1 record
Hyun Jin Ryu 3.10 ERA, 2.71 FIB, 1.17 WHIP, 5-2 record
Dan Haren 3.16 ERA, 3.34 FIB, 1.245 WHIP, 5-3 record
Clay Kershaw 3.49 ERA, 1.53 FIB, 1.235 WHIP, 3-1 record
when looking at the conventional stats, it is crazy to see that Kershaw is the last of our starting 5 in terms of ERA or W-L record, but looking closely, he has given up a lot of runs he didn't deserve. Beckett seem to have benefited the most from getting lucky with our defense the most.
regardless, we don't have a single starting pitcher with a losing record, or below MLB average in WHIP or ERA. Beckett is cutting it thin with his FIB but overall, our starting 5 are kicking ass.
