Part of the appeal maybe that they could try a Greinke maneuver with him if he was pitching well. Try to win with him for a year or a year and a half and then flip him again to recoup some of the lost prospect capital before he hit free agency.
Certainly possible although that ended up working out horribly for the Brewers when they did it with Greinke.
I love playing the trade tree game, because eventually you can usually make whatever case you like. In this case Greinke was traded for Segura, who was traded for Isan Diaz, who was traded for Yelich.
