Magic number to clinch homefield advantage in the World Series is 1 because Toronto loses the tiebreaker.
LAD has already lost a chance to catch the Brewers because they lose the tiebreaker.
Everyone else is more than 7 games behind Milwaukee.

What are the odds they go 5-2 and get 100 wins?

How tough are the next 2 series after today?

San Diego probably has at least a 90% chance of being locked in to the 5-seed, so I don't think they're especially motivated to use everything in the tank.

The Mets are pretty strong candidates to keep choking and give the Reds a chance all the way through the final weekend, so the Reds are likely to be fighting for their playoff lives IMO.

I don't think the fact that those two teams are solid is that big of a factor over the course of just 6 games when your magic numbers are so low with 7 games left though. I mean, even if having a tougher schedule makes it twice as likely that the Phillies catch the Brewers, you're still probably only going from a 4% chance to 8% chance or something like that.

The Brewers are not likely to chase 100 wins, nor should they with all the injury concerns they've had over the last 6 weeks. They're a good team with a lot of depth though, so I'd still give them a puncher's chance (maybe 8-10%), but you have to remember that if they stay in the hunt for 100 wins, that probably means they already clinched the best record in baseball and will no longer have any seeding motivation.

ETA: Also note that 99 wins would guarantee the #1 overall seed, even if Philly wins out, so there's no scenario will Milwaukee will have any incentive to win #100. Well, no incentive other than it being a nice, even number, but 99 is a cool number in its own right.

JFC here we go again.

Assuming this is retroactive to the day after his last start, 15 days will be up before the division series. Maybe this is some sort of rest thing with an exaggerated injury?

If he’ll be back before the playoffs series, probably just roster manipulation to get another guy on the roster a look. There was no chance he was pitching that last start with him coming back from that injury. He was always going to have it off, and this is a way to utilize that roster spot id hope.

This season has been the best of small-market life in the MLB with the best record in the league, lots of depth, lots of young players doing really well. But even at its best, small-market life means really small margins for weathering the long season.

Sill, it's amazing that 2 months ago, we were wondering how we'll settle on a playoff rotation cuz we have too much good starting pitching. Then IR for Henderson, Hall, Quintana, Woodruff, also can't help but think about how Mis hasn't been the same pitcher since his IR stint.

Hopefully Hall, Quintana, Woodruff, plus Megill are all back for the playoffs. And if Mis could get back to what he was in July after a week off...

Haha **** that’s awful both for him, the team and us fans. We desperately needed good fortune to turn our playoff hopes around.

Honestly, this is classic Milwaukee. Sports teams and the culture. Just always waiting for the other shoe to drop. Shoe drops. We can’t have nice things. The end.

Gotta get back up. Find some resilience. Division champs. Let’s get the one seed. Go from there.

Winning a playoffs series seems really really hard now for this club.

The only good thing is with wrapping up the division it ensures our first playoff game won’t be until October 4th. Hopefully that added time will allow some guys to get healthy. I was hopeful Woodruff was maybe just a way to have him rest, but seems like a legit injury. It does feel like we’re backing into the playoffs a bit even though are 10-7 in September. I also think my playoff PTSD is starting to kick in with playoffs just over a week away.
