You're right. They obviously didn't have any interest, and there's some points to be made about a big who can't shoot from distance & clogs the lane.
On the other hand, we literally lost the game vs DEN the 106-107 game because Nikola Jokic had a presidential motorcade escort him to the front of the rim for two VERY EASY layins with less than 2 minutes to go in that game, including the game winner where The Joker just backed DFS down like he was his 7 year old nephew & laid the ball in for the game winner.
I feel like the Mavs are too narrow-sighted in their thinking. It's like RC is becoming a D'Antoni disciple.
What you're suppose to be able to do as a coach is take the players you have, take the talent you have, and make the most of it. You can't tell me that RC can't find a role for the NBA's leading rebounder. You gotta figure out a way to make that work.
A reduced role? Ok fine.
We just can't use him at all. WTF?!... So we're going to totally clear out the lane for Luka's 2/9 stepback 3 bonanza & watch midgets like DFS, Brunson, Jackson, Curry & D. Wright get abused in the paint over & over again?
I don't see the sense in that at all. Whatever gains are made by PnR, spacing etc are wiped away when Gobert, Jokic, AD + the Lakers 2-headed monster of McGee/D12, and hell even Montrzel Harrell cooked our dinner last time the Mavs faced the Clippers.
I guess it makes sense, but I don't get it.
