Will Embiid care to play?

If yes he will have a buffet in this game. lol

60/20/10 won't be that hard if he tries.

He's is fighting for MVP. 70/30/5 is very possible.

I hope Luka can show some heart and prove that he is the real deal instead of crying for fouls when the team trails.

This kind of game is true test of proving his pride and leadership. Everyone knows Luka is generational talent and he can ball, but he needs to prove his soft skillset more: leadership / mental toughness / maturity etc.

DOnt see how the Mavs can pull this off if Embiid plays. He's just too dominant a force. Maxey will have a field day with whoever tries to guard him

I would more worry that Powell will again start and guard Embiid. Or that Philly might outrebound this team by a margin of 30.

Well last time they faced Embiid he was getting destroyed in the high pick and roll but also luka and kyrie were making everything. It depends what team shows up and what effort they put up... they can win this game.

Being brutally honest, I only care about Luka not getting hurt and embarrassing himself (low energy, not running back, bad body language) and Hardy getting 25+ minutes and looking good.

Image

This team beat the Sixers and then the Bucks on the road without Luka.

Time flies, that was in December, 2019.

KP never replicated his impact from 2019/2020, he came back early and was bad in 21, and in 22 he wasn't impactful on court and had the knee soreness that broke the camel back for Nico and traded him way below his value on the deadline, in a very bad deal for the Mavs.
I remember in 2020, one of my favourite YT channel, bballbreakdown, in his preparation for 2020 PO, he said the KP will be the deciding factor for the series against the Clipper, and even w/o Brunson, Mavs looked great before KP went down, then Luka had that mental game 4, and the rest is history, he was handed the reigns of the team by himself.

It's hard to have a positive balance without the Accountant.

I'll see myself out now 8-)

Ah, one of those vintage THJ "Curry games". I can almost guarantee if THJ goes for 7/11 from 3 tonight, Mavs will have a great shot at winning again :D

Hardy will do serious damage tonight he has too much speed for the slow 76ers. If McGee and Wood start we might stand a chance the core players he needs to play are Luka Irving Hardy Wood and McGee because any other big Kidd could use definitely gets beat like a red headed stepchild when Embid just scores with ease over them on his way to making Kidd look stupid again and again for refusing to put a decent big on him.

Kidd is not creating a winning mentality and environment for this team and his defense has gone to total **** because he is a quitter and he gives up on players that he desperately needs to use. He is like a spoiled brat that is upset with what he has on the team but he has not figured out how to even use what he has. He needs to focus on the guys he dislikes and work on turning them into players he does like. When you get past the whining you might just find get to enjoy more of the winning.

I disagree that he wasn't impactful. Injuries was the main problem. This duo should have worked. The Mavs sold incredibly low. I didn't like the trade at the time as he was the best/youngest player in the trade, and I hate it now.

The question "Why didn't it work?" should be an important one. He's 23/8 on great shooting and the Mavs need a big like that.

It feels like if a monkey took random decisions about the roster, the team would be better off right now.

He wasn't great shooting, he was ineffecient.
KP best role was a rolling/popping/cutting big, he insisted on isoing in the high post, theoretically he should be the best big next to Luka, in reality, other than in 19-20, it didn't work.
Mavs absolutely sold low, it was a stupid trade.

Brunson, DFS, Porzingis, and our 2029 FRP are gone. To replace all that we have Kyrie Irving.

He was still better than Dinwiddie.

It did work when he was healthy. Remember when the Mavs were beating the CLippers with KP?

Clearly he also wasn't used properly considering how he's doing in Washington.

I find it hard to believe Rick didn't know how to utilize him, he was healthy in 2021, Luka was bad and he failed to shine, unlike Brunson who delivered.
I'm not going to argue value, I agree with you, Nico/Cuban panicked and sold low.

What is he doing in Washington? His numbers are almost identical, the only difference is his better 3pts %, which is more function of playing with less pressure in lottery team than anything else.

Identical? His 2pt% is also up and he's taking more FTs, which means that his efficiency is way up.

KP would have worked, if he wanted to give everything in D. He never did. Mavs didn't need his not efficient enough points but rim protection. In the end they have to pair him with Boban to not be destroyed in the paint by Clippers.
