I mean look at Miami got from SD for their closer / and another reliever - SD top #2, #4, #5 and #24 prospects. But I guess its a closer, but it's also a rental closer.

Uh, Kawhi? And if this is the real RJ, IQ lives up to his contract, Mogbo learns to shoot, and OG keeps getting his niggling injuries, then that trade with the Knicks may be even better.
As for the Jays, JP getting a scrub (Jose Bautista) from the Pirates for basically nothing (Robinzon Diaz) will always rank. OTOH, in terms of post-facto career WAR, Jays technically lost The Trade that brought in Carter and Alomar and sent out Tony F and future HOFer Fred McGriff. But flags fly forever.
Dougie Gilmore trade was pretty good.
Is anybody here a marine biologist?

Re: Jays 2024 Trade Deadline Thread
This seemed like an obvious sell high move given the development of Jimenez, Barger, Horwitz, Clement, covering 2B/3B/SS and it could free up some money for next season

I'll put it this way, the only offensive player definitively better than Vlad in MLB right at this moment is Aaron Judge. That's how good he's been over the last month or so. His season numbers are also now getting closer to what he did in 2021.
You would get an absolute haul for him if you dealt him right now.
If you mean last 2 weeks, sure. For the whole season Vlad is still pretty far behind a lot of players (ie. Ohtani, Soto, Ozuna, Bobby Witt, etc). Including position he would be even further behind.
I do agree we should trade him if we can get a haul like what Soto got. It's relatively cheap to get high end offensive production for a 1B, compared to other positions.

Now the question is what is the return on selling high on a player..., who is also signed somewhat cheap next year.
Also is this the first trade between Ben Charrington and Jays?

Another steal here from Ross. McAdoo has mashed his entire minor league career for the Pirates and we had no use for a utility player having a career year.
Hope they deal Chad Green too.

The guy has over a 180 wRC+ over June and July. And a 200 wRC+ looking at just this past month. Yes, I'm pretty comfortable saying the only hitter better than him right at this moment is Judge. Not sure what his position has to do with that statement.
As far as his overall value as a baseball player (where position does enter into it and him being a complete wreck of a defender/baserunner matters), that's something different.

Good job on selling. We can only hope at least some of these prospect lottery balls pan out.

Kiermaier to the Dodgers. Varsho will now no longer be a #LeftFielder.

Wow they sold high on IKF and actually got what looks like a decent prospect. Are we sure Ross Atkins is still in power?

He's hitting very well in June/July, sure. But the whole season matters a lot more

29th from the pre-season ranking, but jumping up into 15th at the mid-season re-rank, apparently.
