Might be a dumb question, but wouldn't Teo bunting down first be a smart play there?

Springer/Vlad/Teo/Kirk should never bunt. Even if Teo successfully drops the bunt down, who is he setting up? Bo Bichette the free swinger that strikes out a lot?

Bichette belongs in the bottom third of the order with Tapia until he remembers how to hit. I'm happy to see Schneider gradually moving him down - would be happier if he put him in the 7-hole and be done with it. It sucks to have such an undisciplined hitter up in so many key situations.

I don't know. It certainly isn't encouraging that his numbers have worsened with each year in the majors, and fallen off a cliff this year.

I don't think it's worth trading him this off-season unless another team is willing to overpay. His value is down too much. At this point we have to hope this season is an aberration and he returns to form next year.

I'm just happy we didn't give him that mega contract that was rumoured 1.5 years ago. That would be looking like an albatross right about now...

Bases loaded, 1 out, top of the 10th. If you make the call and everyone gets a good jump, isn't that a guaranteed run? How can they realistically get the runner at 3rd?

I might big braining this, but someone talk me out of this. I know some of you are super knowledgeable here. I'm less so, coming from a different perspective.

I'll concede that Teo's such a good hitter that even the suggestion of him laying down a bunt sounds crazy. But hear me out, what if it wasn't?

A suicide squeeze, with a guy who has never bunted in his entire major league career and a force play at home, is just an incredibly low-percentage play.

i appreciate the humility to at least ask if bunting in any scenario would be a viable option, but that being said, bunting should be abolished from the game just so it doesn't need to be explained to the pro-bunt crowd one more time. bunting by design being acceptable has rightfully become such an edge-case scenario because the trade-off in terms of risk/reward is just so not worth it. it's one thing to have a productive out but it's another thing to willingly concede 1 of your team's 27 total outs in a game.

Nobody is also ever going to bunt in that situation given there’s a force at home (unless of course you’re doing a suicide squeeze). And a suicide squeeze would be insanely crazy and requires Teoscar to execute something he never does against 95+ MPH.

Also why would you even be playing for 1 run in that spot given the Manfred runner for the Twins on the bottom half?

heard he was running out of options and he didnt have a permanent role on their staff. I think similar to why they traded Stripling to the Jays. White should have a permanent spot for the rest of the season since Strip is injured and when he's back he'll either be starter or long-man.
