Seattle acquiring him for RJ Schreck an AA OF. Ninth rd pick a year ago, just promoted from A+, 29th on the Mariners prospect list. Seattle absorbing all of the remaining Turner salary.

Just taking a cursory glance at his stats, looks like a good OBP guy at least.

As per mlbtraderumors, depending on the cash we sent Seattle, we should be about $5 million over. A trade of Kikuchi and one of Chad Green or IKF should get us there. It's an interesting development, if not all that meaningful for this year, as we won't be qualifying anyone. We will, however no longer have to surrender a fifth along with a second if we do sign someone that another team has qualified.

Yeah not important regarding this year at all, just something to monitor going forward. And the added bonus if we sign a "Big bat" next year that is QQ, then we won't have to give up 2 picks.

The issue is whether they are going to stick with the fiction that guys like IKF and Green are really crucial for some mythical competitiveness in 2025. IKF is no longer needed - and ready to return, he played in two games at Buffalo on the weekend. Green is a pricey reliever, doing very well but the money he's paid could get you two decent relievers during the winter. Both are ideal sell-high situations.

IKF has to be traded, IMO. He's at the peak of his value (it will only go down from here), they have a bunch of players already on the roster who can replace him (Clement, Jimenez, and even Barger can cover 3B), and trading him would save $7.5M next season as well as get them closer to below the luxury tax when combined with other moves. Jimenez being out of options might be a great thing as that might force the Jays to take action. No point having all of Clement, IKF, and Jimenez on the roster next season, especially if Bichette is staying put.

Some of the guys we are taking on, I believe are Rule 5 Eligible, so that means we will have to protect them this upcoming draft or lose them to a team. Not sure if this guy is one of them, but he is 24 and been with the mariners farm team for 4 years I believe?

Nope. His first year was 2023, a four year college guy.

Vlad may not be the superstar we hoped for. But another year of 300/30/90 (roughly).

If he's willing to resign and the number isn't too bad, you sort of have to keep him. He's only 25.

The Astros just scratched RHP Jake Bloss from his start tonight. A promising pitching prospect.

They've been in on both Flaherty and Kikuchi.

Hope there is more but I guess the way Yusei pitched the last little bit, not sure we could have gotten more. Too bad he didn't pitch the same as last year

Bloss is a big acquisition my guy. Mid-rotation upside drafted just last year and already making MLB starts.

Not the excited for a guy who might project to be 4th or 5th starter, but I guess I can't expect more for rental. But Ross can talk about years of control like he did that first year or 2nd year when we sold off vets like Ja happ.

He's getting killed in his starts might be not ready and being forced to start for Houston cause they have no one else at this point

Very wrong.

I hate Akins with a passion but he fleeced the Astros here.

Bloss getting to the majors in his first full pro season after being drafted is pretty cool.

Now, welcome to the Toronto Blue Jays. You'll love it here... eventually.

Oh, and for the record.

Ross and this whole front office needs to get canned but this trade with Houston is already a win.

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
