Could Young be Jays' answer at third?

"Add the name Michael Young to the list of potential acquisitions that make sense for the Jays. On Tuesday, ESPNDallas.com reported that the 34-year-old third baseman could be available in the right trade. Young is owed $48 million for the next three years and the move would allow the Jays to leave major-league home run leader Jose Bautista in right field.

Interesting article. I for one would love to see Michael Young in a Jays uniform. He is a guy who consistantly hits for a great average, and has some pop in his bat from time to time. As well, I think it would do great things for Vernon Wells.

I like Young, but personally I would want to go with someone younger and cheaper. I had no idea that he's due to make that much coin for the next 3 years.

considering his age and his contract, he's not a guy you acquire unless you're making that one last move that you think will get you over the top. He's actually one of my favorite players though, and I'd love him here as long as we don't trade one of our core guy or empty out our farm for him.

btw, if this happens I totally called this move at the beginning of this off season lol

In your opinion, who is the better voice for Blue Jays?? Griffin or (Scott) Carson?

Griffin. Im not saying he makes them up but hes wrong quite a bit.

Shi Davidi of all the reporters is the best IMO. John Lott always has good tweets too.

Bob Elliot has good sources.

I would be all over Young, but that a lot of money for him. If we were one piece away...then maybe. But thats too much money. I think I would of rather tried making a pitch for Reynolds instead.

Really? You would have rather made a run for a guy who hit under .200 last season, as opposed to Young? I realize Reynolds has more power, but both are pretty terrible defenders.

I'm asking out of sheer curiousity, because I can't think of a reason why anyone would want Reynolds near the Jays.

Why would the Jays want a 34 year old with a descent sized contract in the stage of the rebuild there at. Just not the right fit IMO, I would rather if it comes down to it Bautista at 3rd.

There's no way the Rangers would move him anyway, he's virtually the heart and soul of that team. But he was one of the best clutch hitters around.

you never know. one can argue that marcum was the heart & soul of the rotation, and he got shipped.

Night and day. Rangers - went to the World Series, Jays - watched the World Series. Jays aren't there yet.

Isn't Young's contract one of the reasons the Rangers are trying to move him? (if the Rangers are trying to move him, that is)

They're not trying to move him. Young isn't going anywhere, that's my point. I think they'd trade Kinsler before they actually trade Michael Young.
