Manning and Brady got carried to SBs by great teams while they were old and declining.

Are we talking about Carson Wentz?

Darnold's deal is very team friendly. It's basically a 1 year guarantee with team options. If he's terrible, he won't be around for long.

A 41 year old Rodgers with his entourage is not a preferable option.

Fwiw the Steelers wanted to sign Darnold. But he chose Seattle instead.

I was thinking more about Dak Prescott.

I'm aware the Seahawks can move onto the next bridge QB smoothly.

My bad.

Of course you were, you’re always thinking or talking Cowboys. Makes sense you would be thinking about Dak.

I just have an affinity for loser franchises who haven't won anything in decades. I also like the Lions, Jags, and Browns until they signed Watson.

He's just worried that Schotty will elevate him into MVP status.

Which I think is totally possible. Russ had his best years under Schotty as his OC (2018-20). Hell, even Mark Sanchez looked somewhat decent with Schotty as his playcaller.

He's always had a solid run game. Which will benefit Dak. I expect him to have a very good year.

MVP Dak is back!

Nope.

You are aware Schotty was the Cowboys OC for 2 years, right?

McCarthy called plays. Did he not?

Even though he didn't before when Kellen Moore was OC.

If I was the HC and the owner hired Brian Schottenheimer as OC, I wouldn't let him call plays either.

I'd just like to clarify that I thought Brian Schottenheimer was a nepo baby who is bad at coaching long before the Cowboys hired him.

If cowboy fans hated Kellen Moore, I have little faith that they will like Brian schottenheimer running things.

In name only. MM still drew up the offensive game plan and even called the plays this past season.

Honestly no one knows exactly what kind of coach Schotty will be because he’s never been a HC. We have an idea of what type of offense he likes to run from the times he was allowed to put the offense together. How he will be as a HC no one knows. We all have to wait and see.

I thought he was a decent OC when he was on Carroll's staff. Russ had his best years with him calling plays. The biggest gripe I have with Schotty is how the offense completely collapsed down the stretch during the Covid year. Which led to him being fired. They got off to a hot start that year. Then when teams starting playing more shell coverage against them, they didn't make the necessary adjustments. But I don't know if you put more of the blame on him or on Russ? Either way, it was some of the worst offensive Football I've seen.

Hard to imagine how no team in the NFL has called you to run their offense.

It really depends. Kellen Moore was terrible at late game decisions and had no idea how to run the clock out when you’re ahead. At least not while he was in Dallas. We have no idea what kind of head coach Schotty will be. How will he handle late game decisions and clock management? No one knows yet. If Schotty does that well and builds a strong run game to take the ball out of Dak’s hands I’d like that quite a bit.

I think he's a really good fit for Dak. I also don't think it's the worst hire they could've made.

But Schotty has had some playoff duds as a playcaller. That would be my biggest worry if I was a fan. It also doesn't help that his dad also had a reputation for choking when it mattered most.

I haven't sent any job applications for OC openings yet.

I've had a lot of opinions on NFL forums; bad opinions, too. But nothing seems to trigger people more than pointing out the fact that Brian Schottenheimer is a mediocre coach who is only climbing the NFL ranks because of his last name.

Schotty jr? lol this is the type of hot take that makes you think Bryce Young was the best qb in his class

Well, I wasn't alone with that take. Not really a hot take.

Yeah, I'm not suggesting playoff success given his track record. But I do think Dak will have a bounce back year.

Brian is too much like his father when it comes to Marty ball & that will ultimately be their undoing.
