Good for him. But yeah, that seems like a major gamble on their part to give out that kind of contract for a good, but not elite level player.

It’s a fair deal.
His production dropped off last year. Also doesn't grade out very well as a run defender. His coverage grades are solid (good) but not spectacular.
Typically CB play can also be very dependent on having a consistent pass rush. Which is now their biggest question mark going forward.

Pass rush effects so much. There’s a reason the cowboys defense was #1 in the nfl in EPA per play since parsons was drafted while parsons was on the field and bottom 5 when parsons was not on the field.
I always say this but football is won and lost in the trenches. Both OL/DL/pass rush is vital to a teams success because depending on how effective they are, other positions can be better or worse. If a QB has less than 3 seconds to throw he might make a mistake and throw into coverage, but if there’s no pass rush WRs will eventually get open for an easy pass.
