“If” applies to a lot of things. Probably the only people that didn’t think Pickens would be good with the Cowboys though was Eagles fans and Steelers fans.

Not me. Again I never questioned the talent I question where his heads at. Hasn’t been an issue yet so that’s good

I think the fact that both CeeDee and Dak immediately accepted him helps.

That’s part of formula but there are more things that factor in.

Yes but acting like somebody already knows if you’ll get a comp pick or not is pointless because the process needs to play out first. That’s the whole point. You won’t really know for sure until free agency has played out and we are like 7 or 8 months away from that. Hell, this season isn’t even halfway done yet and things can happen that will factor in.

The comp pick was just one scenario though.
Hard to imagine they get nothing for him.

They are based on the total signings and departures of a team in a given free agency period.

Of course…
The cowboys are near the top of the league in receiving comp picks since it began. It’s not that difficult to predict Pickens would get the highest value.
Also if you spend on released players it doesn’t count against the formula.
Concerning your picks comments.
First round picks are different than a third. lol
First rounders have a higher hit rate then the third.

Stephen Jones and Will McClay value the comp picks more than they value signing another team’s free agent. That’s why they’ve always had a high number of comp picks. They haven’t signed a high dollar outside free agent since Brandon Carr.

Just a few weeks ago y'all were defending the Micah trade because $47/year mil can buy you 4 good free agents.

Sure. Our own free agents which could include Pickens.
Also there are always good players that are cap casualties that are cut that can be signed to big money that don’t count against the comp formula.

They extended Tyler Smith, and Jake Ferguson, brought in Clowney, and will likely resign Pickens (pending if his agent plays ball) all with the money they saved by not signing Micah Parsons. Sounds like it was a good trade to me. I’m sure the Packers are happy too.
