I am VERY quickly starting to sour on Bey. After he developed a little better ability to put the ball on the floor it seems like now that's his primary move, opponents have figured that out, and he's getting eaten alive by defenses.

Yeah I feel the same way. He drives way too much and it doesn’t work most times.
I think he’ll get it together

Lets just send last years "lottery level" starters to the 2nd unit + Burkes and give Cade a whole new 1st team to run with.
Mix it up.

Duren/Bagley
Livers/Stewart
Bojan/Bey
Ivey/Burkes
Cade/Killian

Can't see Stewart not starting.
Cade Ivey Bojan Stew Bagley
Cade and Bagley had too much chemistry last year and Stew added the 3pt shot to his game....
Hayes gets lots of shooters to pass to on the bench unit with the the young rook to clean up mistakes defensively

I have a feeling Casey will play mind games with Duren. He'll be in and out of the dog house

If he can rebound anywhere near the level he did from his first preseason game, be a rim runner, and puts in consistent effort then I think that will be more than sufficient to justify minutes. I think either him or Noel should be starting.

I’m not really interested in Noel playing much less starting. What do people see in Noel? Outside of being a plus defender and shot blocker, I don’t see any other positives and this team isn’t good enough to have the luxury of playing a one dimensional player like that for long stretches.

Two years ago, Noel had a really good defensive season. He was top 5 in defensive win shares and top 5 in defensive box plus/minus in the entire league.

Last year he had a down injury plagued season playing only 25 games and he wasn't very effective at all.

Impossible to know what player we will get at this point, but if its 20-21 Noel there's no chance Casey doesn't play him on a nightly basis. He is playing for a contract in many ways so he might be going all out this year.

I have a feeling that if I ask you to elaborate why you have that feeling, there won't be much meat in your answer.

Check Casey's history. This is the reason HE WAS FIRED IN TORONTO. He did the same shet with Siakam. He played mind games

What mind games has he played with anyone while coaching in Detroit?

It's odd that you think so given that a whole lot of people here think Casey gave Hayes more leeway than he deserved.

Duran is a fouling machine, he will only be on the floor for a short time.
Defence Wins Championships,we need to return to the Bad Boy era.

No, he was fired because his teams repeatedly failed in the playoffs and he made poor in-game adjustments. Ask any Toronto fan.

Casey still has good relationships with his former players.... they've spoken highly of him. He was already a player's coach. I will agree, and you can ask Toronto fans... it was all about lack of XOs and playoff adjustments that likely cost him his job. He's been a great motivator and a coach players have enjoyed playing for, he is just best suited with a really smart high bball IQ top assistant running the offense like he had in Nurse in Toronto. Its no offense to him at all, but he is 65 years old now and a bit of it I think comes from getting new idea younger guys into the system looking at stats in a different way and watching film differently than what it was done a decade or two ago.
