sorry, but this theory you have that players dont want to compete for fear of getting shown up by another player makes no sense, and is the exact opposite make up of 99% of professional athletes who live for competing against the best of the best. Why are players participating in the all-star game tomorrow? Do you think LeBron should sit out the game in case he
might get posterized by Durant? Its ridiculous. There's instances every night in every game for players to show up other players, that doesn;t mean their agents don't want them out there trying.
And to your response at the top of the page that I just noticed, if you actually read my initial post on this topic, you would know that I didn't suggest it as just a meaningless event. I suggested putting an incentive in where the winner gets homecourt advantage in the Finals should he be able to lead his team there in the playoffs. You don't think LeBron would want to compete in one weekend of 1 on 1 games, if he had the chance to get homecourt in the Finals?
It would benefit the players by giving them a chance at homecourt. It would benefit the agents by getting their players more national exposure in the spotlight. It would benefit the players sponsers by having the spotlight all on their player wearing their brand on national TV. It would benefit the fans by giving them what they want, which is what most fans do want. And it would benefit the league by finally having an entertaining all-star weekend again that ppl would be talking about weeks after.
Aside from injury, which is possible in any all-star event, there's literally no downside to it and its a joke that you think agents don't like their athletes competing with each other on big stages. Thats what the whole business is based on.
