I bet their agents are just fuming mad that everyone was talking about them the most this weekend

Yup Knight getting his ankles broken by Kyrie is such a positive.

This is perhaps the dumbest logic I've ever read on this site. By this logic, agents should just tell their players to tank every game and don't try to get to the Finals on the biggest stage, where you might get shown up by another player. C'mon man, you can't be serious.

And all these posters here saying a 1 on 1 tournament would never happen in the NBA are clueless and obviously don't know much about the history of the league, or the history of the Pistons for that matter. Because in 1972 there was a 1 on 1 tournament in the NBA, which was won by Bob Lanier. Yeah...no players would ever agree to participate in a 1 on 1 tournament. gtfo

Average NBA salary in 1970: 35,000
Average NBA salary in 2013: 5.5 million

Add to that social media and the 24/7 GLOBAL coverage of the game and image comes into play now a lot more than it did in the 70s. I understand you stopped posting under the FlipTSO account after the whole Harden debacle, but please don't make the same mistake arguing over something you probably now know you're wrong about.

Is that why he changed his name? Lololololol

Yeah. That was just plain embarrassing...now Knight will be remembered around the league for that until he breaks out and does something significant.

No, now fans around the country who had no idea who Knight was might tune in next time they match up, and get to see how great he usually plays against Irving, and get more recognition nationally than he normally would.

All publicity is good publicity in marketing. Its when no one is talking about you that you have a problem. If Irving-Knight becomes a popular rivalry, its good for Knights brand, even if he never wins a matchup against him.

This mindset that you should even compete in something for fear of looking bad is a losers mentality which benefits no one. I guess Knight shouldn't have competed in the skills challenge either because he might've got embaressed lo. He shouldve just called it a career before this weekend and never compete in anything again, and save himself from the chance of ever getting embaressed lol. You guys are ridiculous lol

I'm sure you would have a point if there was a logic way to set a marketing campaign centered the "guy" that got his ankles broken by Kyrie Irving.

sorry, but this theory you have that players dont want to compete for fear of getting shown up by another player makes no sense, and is the exact opposite make up of 99% of professional athletes who live for competing against the best of the best. Why are players participating in the all-star game tomorrow? Do you think LeBron should sit out the game in case he might get posterized by Durant? Its ridiculous. There's instances every night in every game for players to show up other players, that doesn;t mean their agents don't want them out there trying.

And to your response at the top of the page that I just noticed, if you actually read my initial post on this topic, you would know that I didn't suggest it as just a meaningless event. I suggested putting an incentive in where the winner gets homecourt advantage in the Finals should he be able to lead his team there in the playoffs. You don't think LeBron would want to compete in one weekend of 1 on 1 games, if he had the chance to get homecourt in the Finals?

It would benefit the players by giving them a chance at homecourt. It would benefit the agents by getting their players more national exposure in the spotlight. It would benefit the players sponsers by having the spotlight all on their player wearing their brand on national TV. It would benefit the fans by giving them what they want, which is what most fans do want. And it would benefit the league by finally having an entertaining all-star weekend again that ppl would be talking about weeks after.

Aside from injury, which is possible in any all-star event, there's literally no downside to it and its a joke that you think agents don't like their athletes competing with each other on big stages. Thats what the whole business is based on.

A lot of folks are assuming Knight is as good as he will become... far from the truth.

...and what if LeBron gets matched up against someone like Jamal Crawford, and loses?

Have you ever watched an all star game? Theres actually little defense being played, so no one has to worry about being posterized. 1 on 1 you actually have to play defense, or won't be entertaining.

Let me get this straight you want a 1 on 1 tournament to determine home court adavantage for the finals which is a 5 on 5 game? Theres a reason I ignored it. It would pretty much make having the best record meaning less in finals.

You know, lately I've been seeing you on here calling posters' opinions/ suggestions stupid. And here you are making the suggestion of a 1 on 1 game determining homecourt in the finals. Oh the irony.
