im really surprised at how much you dont believe in him, some dont even think hell make the roster

Hes kinda road blocked by other players

i get that, but its not like hes stucked behind good players like levert or harris etc

he had no chance at brooklyn, he can fight for his place at detroit

His shooting last season was laughably horrid. That's why. Otherwise, there'd be more optimism about him.

I'm sure Musa will get a chance to show what he can do here but he'll have to outplay quite a few wings:

Ellington
Jackson
Mykhailiuk
McGruder
Bey
King
Sirvydis
Lamb

He'll have to be in the top five to see time in the rotation. If he gets a handle on his shot selection and accuracy while keeping up defensively he'll see the court. This is the year for him to develop into a rotation player but he'll have to work hard at it.

I see Ellington, Jackson, Myhailiuk and Bey being the likely top four wings to start the season with the possibility of Wright getting some time at SG. If Grant spends much time at SF Musa's climb into the rotation will be difficult.

yes, it was

but his shooting in europe and g-league suggest he can shoot

my assumption is he felt pressure at brooklyn and thats why he failed when he got his chance and as we know, sometimes players need a change of scenery (like what casey said about jackson)

King is a complete non-factor. So are Lamb & Sirvydis. So are Ellington & McGruder to lesser extents.

Hayes- So they can bring rose off the bench
Wright- glue guy/Casey guy.
Plumlee or Griffin
Griffin or Grant
Grant or Jackson
Basically no way griffin and grant come off the bench. Jackson at the 3 or Plumlee at 5 will depend on matchups/availability.

Best rotation would be:
Hayes-Wright-Svi-Grant-Griffin
Rose-Jackson-Bey-Sekou-Plumlee

i'm actually really curious of our guard rotation.

at this point in his career i think rose is definitely a bench player. he can't run an offense/create for others and he's a bad defender so he'd get eaten alive vs. opposing starting guards. coming off the bench they'd need his ability to break down the defense a lot more.

delon wright is definitely a secondary (at best) ball handler in terms of running an offense but he can play both guard positions and has some years under his belt so he knows how to play. the thing is, he's only started 23 games (8%) in his career. he brings versatility but the reality is he isn't talented enough to be a starting guard unless you have a superstar wing to run the offense.

wayne ellington is the kind of guy i could see starting but only playing 14-18 mpg. he's a lights-out shooter, so even if he can't do anything else offensively he'll stretch the floor. he's also not a great defender but is a vet and can be relied on not to make mistakes that lead to blown rotations.

killian hayes obviously is the most important player for the pistons' future but it's hard to predict how international players will translate to the nba, especially immediately. given that he'll have like two weeks of training camp i think it's unlikely they start him right off the bat.

as for saben lee, i really like him as a second round flier but he's almost definitely going to get DNP's. i could see him getting into the rotation if rose or hayes get injured, or if rose gets traded.

i haven't even factored in svi or musa getting minutes at SG which they probably will given how many wings we have. this preseason is very intriguing because it's probably an audition for everyone on the team.

If Hayes doesn't start with that putrid combo of guyards Pistons have.... That would really be head scratching... Ellington and Wright are fringe NAB player and Rose should come off the bench at this stage.

Return to Detroit Pistons
