I have to assume you have a plan to move Drummond, because those guys aren't playing together. Good Lawd.
I was joking, but if the option came up to do it, I'd rather have a defensive center in Hibbert making 14 mil for 2 years than Monroe making 14 mil for 4 years, so I probably would do it and just bring Hibbert off the bench.
He could play with Drummond though, defensively, no doubt. Because Dre can guard away from the basket and wouldn't have to worry about leaving the paint unprotected with Hibbert there. They could actually form a devastating defensive combo. Offensively it would be tough though to play them together.

I don't want Monroe to be making max money either, but Hibbert makes Monroe look like Charles Oakley. People throw around the term soft when describing Moose, but Hibbert is averaging 5 rebounds a game while shooting 28% currently in the playoffs. That efficiency is terrible for anybody, and even more so for a 7'2 bigman.

I HATE this trade. It keeps coming up. the 5th-8th picks are on the same tier basically. The 8th makes less, so you even have one mathematical incentive to stay at 8th. I think people just don't want to be left with Aaron Gordon. That's fine. I can understand that. He could surprise, but he still doesn't look like the best fit here. There is always trading back though. Or 3-teaming with Charlotte to get our pick back and a later pick for the 8th.
Then there is Smoove for Crash...
Smoove RIGHT NOW AT THIS MOMENT might be worth more than expirings to the right team. Crash? Hell no!
Smoove might bounce back to become worth more than expirings to the right team. Crash? Hell no!

The thing is that one of Smart or Exum would definitely be at 5.
The tiers don't matter when there's a clear need, and if a very good answer to that need would available three picks ahead in the tier.

Atl in: Bynum, 36th, 38th, 6 future 2nd's
Why? possible 3 rotation players for possible 1. And future 2nd's. note: works in trade-checker
Det out: Siva, Bynum, Mitchell, 38th pick, next 6 2nd's
Det in: 15th pick
Why? don't wait, try for a gem at 15. good chance at getting best player in the trade. shed salary.
Mil out: 36th pick (via LAL)
Mil in: Siva, Mitchell
Why? 2-for-1. Siva > Mitchell to whoever was watching. *opinion* note: works in trade-checker

4th pick, Burke, Gobert
Why for Detroit?
DRUMMOND can only haunt from the West.
salary...salary...salary...using DRUMMOND is the only way to undo Smennings while getting something.
can't trade Monroe anymore and still get value
depth and youth.
round 2 for free agency and trades to get a group that fits each other.
Why for Utah?
DRUMMOND
follow-up: 4-teamer Cha/Chi/Pho. offer 4th and 8th for 2 mid-1st's, 2mid-1st's and 1st returned.
note: criticize the trade(s), not the fact that the Utah trade would be finalized after July 1st.
p.p.s: Utah could get 2 mid-1st's and our pick back for us for 4th. we trade 8th for other 2 mid-1st's.

And you keep trying to come up with trade scenarios to trade him for average players to build a treadmill Atlanta Hawks squad. You have to have a superstar to win and Drummond is the closest thing weve had to that in a while and hes only 20 years old.

I agree with what you said about Drummond.
And agree with the spirit of your idea. *shrug*
But here we sit with Smennings, who LOSE games for us, an upcoming 1st gone, very meh flexibility, and our depth is sub-par.
And here we sit on a treadmill of the 15th (on a HORRIBLE playoff team) 7th, 8th, 9th, 8th, 8th picks.
And as Pistons fans, we know how a team can jump to the playoffs, to the ECF, to world champs, keep going deep in the playoffs, and with great depth and the only superstar having an asterisk.
*Big Ben's offense was world-class suckage.
EDIT: the Pistons were a 1st round exit team for several years with a superstar, Grant Hill, but the brilliant (or lucky accident) roster that went elite was SOOOO different. Lucky for us.

Agree to disagree.
I hate watching the Pistons now. If my fanboy trades happened, I would love watching the Pistons. Nobody would be as exciting as Drummond. But Drummond currently is like a pair of silk boxers while Smennings are shart remains and there is no public restroom. Give me some clean, lesser underwear, a shower, and some other nice clothes.
