Or he wanted to sell last year and someone else in the FO blocked it as some rumors have suggested.
Also there is a point where “selling high” with every vet just does not work. You need vets to win, and vets tend to lose value as time goes on, naturally. Either with their contract getting shorter or abilities declining.  It’s easy to say go back in time and trade them since we’ve been terrible, but at some point you need to keep vets even if their value is going to naturally dip. 
So if the idea was trade Grant after a few months having signed him or flipped Bojan as soon as you traded for him, having not allowed any vets to play on this team more than a few months to maximize trade value, there would be critics for that too. 
It’s also a little strange that Bojan’s value dropped all that much. His numbers are pretty comparable to last year. He still plays the same amount of defense (none). He still has the extra year next year. I guess we just got unlucky with the state of the market?  No desperate teams?  The risk of bringing him back seemed to be that his game would fall of at this age but it really hasn’t.
