VirTech had no business being ranked. best part of their resume is a 35-10 loss to Bama.

probably so. they have not been very impressive, and Florida win is not as shiny as it used to be.
FSU will blow them apart next week.

agreed. Mizzou is solid but not top 5 IMO. Better than Florida and Georgia but #5?
Auburn is way over rated. This is a team that was lucky to beat WSU at home.

Mizzou will lose this week and so will Texas Tech

Logan Thomas has been so overrated ..... the hype around him has been annoying at minimum.

He's capable of making a flashy play, has a strong arm (sometimes), but is NOT a good QB.

That was an ugly game, and Frank Beamer's team once again does the VT egg laying thing.

They should fall out of the polls.

Missouri fans are waking up this morning feeling like their boyfriend/girlfriend just told them that they liked someone else better.

Could have put that one away .....

Give the Cocks credit as Shaw played the part of being the hero.

wow at ohio state thats quite the win, although they are likely to need teams ahead of them to lose if they want to move up

yes they looked really solid. I wish there was a playoff this year.

remaining schedule is very weak so they need all three teams ahead of them to to lose to get into the mix. Its possible that a 1 loss Bama team would stay ahead of them.
It is not out of the question that Stanford could pass them if they win out as well.

CBS projections of BCS standings.

i am still baffled that the BCS requires the computer rankings not use margin of victory. I understand they were trying not to encourage "style points" but it makes them much less accurate.

This is stupid, if they were included Baylor easily would've reached triple digits in all their games except for one and get a higher spot then they deserve. you don't want to reward weak out of conference schedule and weak conferences.

If a team struggles in a win that's pollsters job to take into consideration.

point is the computer models lose all statistical relevance if you take out important data.

thats why one BCS computer has Northern Illinois at #3.

might as well not use them if you are going to screw them up. The various computer ratings were developed to actually pick winners and losers. they all have a diminishing return principle so that running up the score does not get you anything. ie a 42-14 victory is pretty much the same ad a 62-14. But BCS scraps the whole thing and screws it up.

it actually gives an advantage to weaker teams / conferences by removing margin of victory from the equation.

don't worry about Baylor. Once they get through all their games we will see what they really are.

bcs does not scrap margin of victory, that part of data is supplemented by two human polls and can not be determined by computers accurately regardless. no computer data will be able to tell how margin of victory was attained; 14 point win when opponent throws a pick 6 while attempting to tie the game is different than a 14 point win opponent reduces the deficit after you put in your second and third stringers, but both these wins would get same points from computers.

sure we'll see what baylor is but give them margin of victory as an advantage, unbeaten baylor team would be ranked ahead of unbeaten alabama despite playing weaker schedule and that's asinine.

Call me pessimistic but I don't buy the Baylor hype at all. The margin of victory is nice and all, but they've got 3 out of conference wins over Wofford, Buffalo, and Louisiana-Monroe to pair with 4 conference wins over teams with losing records. Until they beat an in-conference opponent with a winning record, I'm staying away from expecting something spectacular.

They're about to face a major step up in competition now and I think they could lose a couple of those games.

agreed, they have the meat of their conference schedule coming up so we will see.
If they run the table they will be in the mix though.
realistically I could see them losing two games.

Missouri at #9? Even though they went into 2 overtimes, I thought they would drop out of the top 10. Their last game is at mizzou against texas a&m - woot!
