Klay is looking rough, but its preseason and the Mavs arent playing any legitimate PGs.. stuff we already knew. He needs shots created for him.. he did OK with Kyrie last game

I'm not looking forward to seeing this thread this year.. since Klay is so bipolar game to game, it will be a constant back and forth from people enjoying him playing poorly or being hysterically lectured about how much we should have kept him when he doesn't

You can miss shots, its preseason (3-9 and 0-9), but when you have the highest negative plus/minus two game in a row -19 and -14, it tells way way more than missing shots.

Shooting is literally the only thing he can do to raise his +/-

Can't put people in a position where you know they'd fail as a proof that they suck. If he is completely cooked, we'll know it at the end of November. But him not getting boards, assists, or playing defense isn't some new development. He's designed to spread the floor for Kyrie and Luka, and looked passable when with Kyrie. None of these numbers mean anything or show anything that isn't already known

Nothing new here. This is last year's Klay from his 2 games so far.

Kerr putting him into the 2nd unit helps him because he was mostly matched against slower and less talented defender. Now that he is starting again, is not just the same starting Klay, but could be worse.

So glad he turned down the 2 year contract MDJ offered.

Read on Twitter

Klay would have been fuming if this happened to him last year.

His shot doesn’t look the same.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

I feel bad. I think his game could have aged a lot better if he took a Westbrook approach to his twilight years. He just refuses to play in the flow of the game and insists on trying to play like he's old Klay.

I feel good that he signed with Mavs.
Now I dont have mixed feelings and can remember him for what he is - Bay area legend!

It took Westbrook getting humiliated and scapegoated in his home town to get him to accept a bench role.

Klays biggest problem - was that he was (and maybe still is) in denial. That "I'm the best" mentality may have given him an edge in the past but it is now just a massive detriment to his team.

The Warriors biggest problem - was (and maybe still is) Steve Kerr. Does anyone doubt that if a veteran and championship winning Klay was still here that Steve wouldn't be starting him... or would meritocracy finally, finally prevail...

Thank the sweet lord or the spaghetti monster or whoever that Klay refused that contract.

I do think Klay would be coming off the bench on our team this year which is part of the reason why he wanted to leave. But it probably still wouldn't be a meritocracy.

I like your optimism but Klays new offered contract was reportedly 24M per.

That's an expensive bench player.

That was last off season, which was taken off the table during the season. We don’t know what we offered him this season since we told him to wait.

Klay hit like 4-5 shots in a row vs the Bucks. He's a streaky shooter.

Klay makes shot = "he's amazing." Klay misses shot = "he's ass / washed!" Nothing new here. Gonna reserve judgment until the first couple months, but I'd bet that Klay has a way better year than last season. He'll be playing a better role and can just be a catch and shoot player a la Ray Allen with the Celtics & Heat, and this Mavs team actually wants him. Would bet a lot of Klayters will be eating crow during the playoffs when Klay is a major contributor to a contender.

by 2025, Naji Marshall or Grimes will replace him in the starting lineup

If waived, do we bring him back on a vet min, is the question?

So poetic!
