More likely his path to being an effective NBA player is to use his size, length and athleticism to get a lot of dunks, rebounds and at least try to challenge shots at the rim.
Or doing dirty work like screening for the better shooters. Maybe if he shows consistency at the mid range jump shots, he becomes useful for some pick and roll, pick and pop, though it would be preferable for him to dive to the basket, rim run or kick out to open shooters if teams rotate after doubling Curry.
Warriors don't need him to be taking 3s unless he's left wide open and in practice he's shown enough proficiency at hitting that shot.
It doesn't have to be KD good, but if he has a mismatch on the post, he will able to beat that guy off the dribble and get to the rim. Many 7fters cannot do that without turning the ball over
