What's the rules on that? Only a 1 yr rental no matter what?
Yes. Expiring contracts only with no options.

Right on, thanks.
I like the sound of your McDermott scenario. We need the shooting

Avery Bradley and Austin Rivers are the best fits and they are experienced. If Bradley can be lured for just vet minimum and Rivers for MLE that'd be a coup.

Warriors are not going to spend anything more than vet minimums from here on out. The Oubre deal was basically their big move and anything else would be overkill especially if they use their other assets for a 1 year rental.

Was Oubre really the best the front office could do? I'm not super enthused.
Why not? Aside from leftover Clippers antipathy I don't get the no to Rivers. He's at a prime age. Lin may be done but I don't know if we really know. Unless one of the up and comers is superior, having Lin would still be a plus.

I'm just being realistic. Also, I don't think it's a bad thing since the Warriors can save those assets later in the season to see what team they have so far. If the Warriors use those other exceptions, they would have to be for players that are amazing. Honestly, I think they can get some good options at the vet. minimum.Coxy wrote:killmongrel wrote:Warriors are not going to spend anything more than vet minimums from here on out. Re: 11/20 FREE AGENCY begins at 3:00 PDT
My current pipe dream:
1. Warriors convince Ibaka to sign for the DPE (~$9.3M)
2. Execute a trade (likely involving a third team) to acquire Huerter from Atlanta. (It looks like Atlanta is going to end up with Bogdanovic at the 2, and they also love Reddish at 2/3, so Huerter may be considered more dispensable.) Huerter’s salary JUST fits into the remaining amount of the TPD, with only $100-200k to spare. Paschall or Poole would be the main outgoing asset from Warriors, including 2nd rounders and potentially Looney and/or Lee.)
3. Divide the MLE between GR3 and DJ Augustin
(4. Likely trade Looney for some luxury tax relief. Might have to attach a 2nd round pick to get somebody to take him.)
4 starters would have positional versatility: Wiggins (2/3), Oubre (3/4), Draymond (4/5), Ibaka (5/4). So while we might be without a true back-up PF if we have to trade Paschall, those minutes would be filled by either Ibaka (playing next to Wiseman or Chriss at the 5) or Oubre (playing small-ball 4).
For sake of the line-up, I’m assuming they have to include Paschall AND Poole in the Huerter deal, and Looney’s gone as well, but here’s what it would look like:
PG: Curry / Augustin
SG: Wiggins / Huerter / Lee
SF: Oubre / GR3
PF: Draymond / (Ibaka / Oubre)
C: Ibaka / Wiseman / Chriss / Smailagic
That top-9 is formidable. It addresses the problems of “lack of shooting” at the wings with Huerter and GR3; has a good, proven back-up PG in Augustin; puts a guy who is a stretch 5 in the starting line-up (so Draymond is the only shooting liability); and offers a huge variety of different types of line-up, big or small.

If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

Miami signing Harkless suggests they are moving on from Crowder. So JC may be in play now. I thought he would get a Dragic / Leonard type deal.

DPE will be probably held if we need a buy out player for a playoff push.
I think it will me Vet Mins from here.
