No one wants to be a placeholder either, which probably factors in a lot more than you're giving credit. "Ring chasers" are guys who take less money to go for a ring, not ones who typically take very unstable roles on a team. Not like we got top-end players before (wounded Cousins, Nick Young, end of the road JON & West, Speights, etc etc)
Warriors have zero chance with West this summer compared to that season. Batum not choosing the Warriors over a Clipper team that is missing its best player for the season (most likely) is quite telling.
Its quite telling that we have Poole and drafted Moody/Kuminga. Meaning if those guys prove they deserve minutes, he's hitting the bench. In LAC there's no legit threat to his role, whereas here, the plan would be that his role is eventually phased out. If you can't acknowledge that you're just mad to be mad

Not convinced this is true specifically for Batum. In a 1 year scenario, I'm sure we would have penciled him in for 20 minutes (~15 behind wiggins + a handful with the rest of the starters with draymond at 5), especially come playoff push. Moody/Kuminga likely get the minutes when Klay is out/resting, injuries, and if Kuminga is pushing for more minutes its likely coming from JTA, not a Batum.
But of course he had a lot of other reasons to stay in LA.

I agree. This to me sounds like excuses to rationalize why he chose a team that lost its best player for the entire season over the Warriors.

Would rather have Lopez assuming he’s available, at least he has C size with the same type of grit.
