He's not Keon Ellis even on a high end. Ellis was a much more interesting 3&D prospect. Better athlete, much better defender and better shooter. Proctor looked like he was going to be interesting his Freshman season but he didn't really develop much beyond that. Ellis is a much more sudden athlete. I don't see Proctor being much of anything off the ball and certainly not a 3&D target.
So you don’t think he’ll be a good defender? And you don’t believe in his shot? Even though he took roughly 6 3s a game at 40%
I think he'll be a below average defender. Doesn't have especially good size or athleticism, so I'm not sure what the upside is there. His 3pt shooting has improved but his FT% somehow got worse over the three seasons which is suspect. He really only had the one good 3pt% season this past year. Low steal rate. I just see a guy who probably ends up in the GL. Could be wrong, of course. I just think there are more interesting guys to take shots at.
Having said that, all the guys I want might be gone long before our pick so if we ended up with Proctor, I'm not gonna sit here and cry about it.
Fair enough. I don’t think he’ll be an elite defender. I’m not worried about his ft% when he’s taking like 2 a game.
Yea the steal rate being so low is definitely a concern. Seems like his steals kind of just come to him rather than him causing them. But I think he’ll be avg to solid defender who can follow game plans and not be a complete sieve. Hes more of a positional defender than a disruptor. But combine that with volume 3 point shooting and there’s something there. With so many prospects returning I wouldn’t be mad at proctor.
I guess if you don’t believe in his shot or just his ability to get up 3s in volume then there’s not a lot there. To me just being able and willing to get up multiple 3s will be valuable. Like we’re praying that podz is willing to take 6 3s a game. Volume shooting + solid defender is an nba player.
