Local bar plans 'Jay Cutler jersey burning' party
http://www.9news.com/rss/article.aspx?storyid=121995
GOLDEN - A local bar is ready to welcome former Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler back to town this weekend and everyone is invited - even the local fire department.

Wrigley's Chicago Bar, located at 18200 W. Colfax Street in Golden, is offering a "great prize" to the person who defaces Cutler's jersey the best.

After that, the Golden Fire Department will assist revelers in the burning, tearing shredding and disposal of the old No. 6 jerseys.

The event takes place on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.

They also plan to sell anti-Cutler T-shirts at the event.

This is going to be an epic preseason game.

I don't think any self respecting jersey burning party would have the fire dept attend and run it. Its a bit like your mom running your first dorm party. And wtf is a bar called Wrigleys Chicago bar doing burning Bears QB jerseys? I might wanna torch the whole place myself for false flagging, fire dept not invited.

There are a ton of Cubs fans in Denver. I know there's a reason why but I can't remember it.

I have a feeling by the end of the season Denver fans will want a Josh McDaniels burning party.

The presence of all those Cubs fans has Rockies officials projecting crowds of 40,000-plus for the first two, if not all four, games. Nothing new there. The Cubs led the National League in road attendance in 2008, attracting an average of 36,328. And they're a particularly hot item in Denver, where fans, denied a major-league team until 1993, were forced to turn to Superstation WGN for their baseball fix.

That's why they have a Wrigley bar in Denver I guess. Not fond of the other Chicago teams though.

I looked up the sports bar's website and they have a "Go Chicago Bears" gif on the main site. Guess this is for publicity.

Everybody already hates McDaniels in Denver. I have a similar feeling that Cutler won't be seen as quite the messiah he is currently in Chicago by the end of the year.

I think the word "messiah" would imply he's going to take us to the dance this year and I don't think anyone here is predicting that. But if you'd had the following guys lining up under center since 1989, you'd be a little giddy yourself :

Mike Tomczak
Jim Harbaugh
Peter Tom Willis
Will Furrer
Erik Kramer
Steve Walsh
Dave Krieg
Rick Mirer
Steve Stenstrom
Mose Moreno
Shane Matthews
Cade McNown
Jim Miller
Chris Chandler
Henry Burris
Kordell Stewart
Jonathan Quinn
Craig Krenzel
Chad Hutchinson
Jeff Blake
Brian Griese
Rex Grossman
Kyle Orton

i was in denver in july and i walked into a downtown bar on a friday night to use the restroom. i happened to be a wearing a cubs shirt. about a dozen or so patron's with cubs gear immediately starting whistling at me and giving me thumbs up. i laughed because the cubs weren't even in town...

Just a smattering of boos for Cutler as he comes out of tunnel. Most fans still in parking lots where beer is more affordable.

That's where Davis belongs. That or the Arena League.
