On the gators board it said Major Wright graded out as " no later than 3rd round" FWIW.

I'd go offensive lineman or safety in the 3rd round but if a WR is the BPA at the time, you take him.

Personally I don't see any wr drafted by the Bears and frankly I think that's the best plan unless some really good wr drops. We have more than enough young wr's. Unless we find an absolute stud (we won't), it's unnecessary.
We definitely need some O-lineman in our early picks. This draft doesn't appear to be deep with the tackles, but appears to have some good guards so hopefully we nab one in the 3rd round. As for safety position, I guess it could be answered if we can get Olsen for a 2nd round pick. I'd rather go the free agency route for safety and get a good OT with an Olsen trade, but as I said, we aren't likely to find a good OT in the 2nd round in this draft.

Short of some uber talented WR being there, the WR should be a non pick. You have Ingleasias, Bennett, Aromashadu, Hester. So no, another young WR taken early should not be considered. You need to develop your WR that you have, not keep drafting them high and getting nothing from then.

Really, you have two huge needs that you need to address right away
OT
S

Then you have pressing needs
LB
CB
DT
C

Really, you probably will not see a QB, WR, RB, DE or TE taken. You have to many holes on this team.

LB is a pressing need? With Urlacher, Briggs, Roach, Williams and Hillenmeyer? Couldn't disagree anymore. LB is probably our most talented and deepest position on the team.

If we end up with only 5 picks (i.e. no Olsen trade), Cliff Levingston would be in favor of taking two safeties and 3 offensive linemen. The other problem areas:

CB: Tillman is your #1, Bowman #2. If you find a guy who can play FS in the draft, then Manning moves back to nickel where he excelled. Behind those guys, you've got Corey Graham, Nate Vasher and DJ Moore. Not the greatest talent there but there's depth. Maybe cut Vasher to make room for someone.

TE: Just signed Manumaleuna and we'll probably have trouble dumping Olsen for what we think is fair value. Clark and Davis are still on the roster as well. Considering how little this offense uses the tight end other than for blocking, there is absolutely no need to spend a pick on the TE spot.

WR: No doubt we could use a #1 guy, but you're not going to find that in the draft after the 2nd round in a rookie. WR is one of those positions that usually takes a guy a couple years to find a groove and this coaching staff doesn't have two years. Plus, we've got Iglesias as a 3rd round pick last year if you're looking for new talent to develop.

DT: Harris isn't going anywhere kids, so might as well hope for the best. Took Gilbert last year who could basically be considered a draft pick this year if you'd like. Then Harrison and Adams as the NT's are going to have to do. Cliff Levingston doesn't think the line is such a pressing issue anymore as Peppers is going to command a lot of attention which will give the other guys a chance to be freed up a little more.

So yea, if we can address the safety and OL spots meaningfully in the draft, then it's a win for us.

It's pretty obvious where are needs are at now. We need secondary help and O-Line help. We won't get the #1 receiver we need via the draft so I don't see that as a pressing need going into a draft where we don't pick until the 3rd round. We have too many 3rd round + young receivers and I don't see adding another one to the long list currently will do us very good being in a "win-now" mode. We will have to sign or trade for a legit #1 if we want to go that route. One thing I'm seeing is safety is really the only position mentioned when talking about our weak secondary. I see it being we need DB help, altogether. Unless I missed something Bowman couldn't cover anyone last year. He's a big physical guy but I am far from comfortable with him being a starting CB. Add in the fact that Tillman and Bowman seem to be hurt every year, Vasher seems to be done at CB for us, and DJ Moore is a midget I think adding the best available DB's in general would be a good strategy, although, FS is easily the weakest area currently.

With Safty in FA ( however that may be )

3rd CB Brandon Ghee or Donovan Warren
4th OT Kyle Colloway
5th OG Sergio Render
6th DT/NT Corey Peters ( by DT/NT, I mean Tank Johnson esk, not exactly NT, but big enough to be a 4-3 NT, while still providing pressure )
7th BPA

Without safty

Trade Olsen for 2nd

2nd FS NAte allen
3rd CB Brandon Ghee/Donovan Warrren
4th OT Kyle Colloway
5th OG Sergio Render
6th DT Corey Peters
7th BPA

Trade Greg Olsen for a 2nd Round Pick or high 3rd Round Pick:

2nd Round/3rd Round (Olsen Trade): OG Mike Johnson Alabama (NEED a LG like no other)

3rd Round: OT Jard Veldeer Hillside: (NEED a RT like no other too, not positive he can start right away though, but this guy has some potential)

4th Round: SS Myron Rolle Florida State (Seems like a Lovie Smith kind of guy)

5th Round: LB Micah Johnson Kentucky (Good player to learn from Urlacher since he is getting up there in age)

6th Round: FS Robert Johnson Utah (Already brought him in for a work out, has nice potential)

7th Round: FB/TE/H-Back Clayton Harbor Missouri State (Not sure if I am the only one, but if not Clay Harbor I think the bears should really invest in getting a better FB. McKee is to mechanical and I think FB has a larger impact in the running game then people think)

These were the players that I think really stood out as "bears players" for some reason.

ChronicKerr is correct. Win now. That doesn't equate to a rookie WR. The coaching staff has a difficult time trusting young receivers.

The two needs, Kerr hit on the head. OL and Dback help, safety more so cornerback. With the 3rd round pick I doubt you get a starting caliber OL. Safeties are deep in this draft. Jenna Jameson deep. I'd swing for the fences on a safety.

I dont like this mock at all

1st, your 2nd round pick, Johnson, has realy hurt his draft stock, he can probably be had in the 4th
SS isnt a need, and while Rolle is a good, he isnt a need
Jard Veldeer Hillside I would rather take Kyle Colloway, seems like a guy who can step in, but i expect us to move omiyele to RT
Also, dont like draft a FS ( our bigest need in the 6th )

3 - Kam Chancellor - FS - Virginia Tech
This dude is big at 6-3, 230, but still has the measurable to play at FS.
4 - Mike Johnson - G - Alabama
Help on the OL was a must by our second pick.
5 - Tony Washington - OT - Abilene Christian
Comes from a Bear's hot spot and we need as much help on OL is possible. Graded as high as a second rounder, but his draft stock is hurt because he is a sex offender with a messed up past : http://www.sportsfanlive.com/sflreports/
6 - Myron Lewis - CB - Vanderbilt
He comes from a Bear favorite school and has the height at CB that is good for the Cover 2 scheme.
7 - Chris Marinelli - OT - Stanford
Looking for as much OL competition as possible in this draft and this guy had versatility to play both G and T. Comes from a smart kid school as well, which the Bears like (hence their obsession with Vanderbilt guys).

Chancellor ran a 4.65 forty yard dash. He's not fast enough to play FS and cover his half of the field.
