Really, you have two huge needs that you need to address right away
OT
S
Then you have pressing needs
LB
CB
DT
C
Really, you probably will not see a QB, WR, RB, DE or TE taken. You have to many holes on this team.
LB is a pressing need? With Urlacher, Briggs, Roach, Williams and Hillenmeyer? Couldn't disagree anymore. LB is probably our most talented and deepest position on the team.
If we end up with only 5 picks (i.e. no Olsen trade), Cliff Levingston would be in favor of taking two safeties and 3 offensive linemen. The other problem areas:
CB: Tillman is your #1, Bowman #2. If you find a guy who can play FS in the draft, then Manning moves back to nickel where he excelled. Behind those guys, you've got Corey Graham, Nate Vasher and DJ Moore. Not the greatest talent there but there's depth. Maybe cut Vasher to make room for someone.
TE: Just signed Manumaleuna and we'll probably have trouble dumping Olsen for what we think is fair value. Clark and Davis are still on the roster as well. Considering how little this offense uses the tight end other than for blocking, there is absolutely no need to spend a pick on the TE spot.
WR: No doubt we could use a #1 guy, but you're not going to find that in the draft after the 2nd round in a rookie. WR is one of those positions that usually takes a guy a couple years to find a groove and this coaching staff doesn't have two years. Plus, we've got Iglesias as a 3rd round pick last year if you're looking for new talent to develop.
DT: Harris isn't going anywhere kids, so might as well hope for the best. Took Gilbert last year who could basically be considered a draft pick this year if you'd like. Then Harrison and Adams as the NT's are going to have to do. Cliff Levingston doesn't think the line is such a pressing issue anymore as Peppers is going to command a lot of attention which will give the other guys a chance to be freed up a little more.
So yea, if we can address the safety and OL spots meaningfully in the draft, then it's a win for us.
