I don't know about that. He was a beast before his trainer died/he went to jail.

Sucked that the heavyweight division was so feeble when he was in his prime.

Well said MD. I agree we should be enjoying these times.

That said, I obviously overstated my anti-Favre sentiments in my all-time Packer QB rankings. He did have a great run from 95-97 under a great coaching staff surrounded with great players and a defense that was best in the league much of that time. Please remember though how many games he lost by himself in 93, 94 and into 95 by throwing multiple picks. That is something Aaron has never done. It just makes me so mad when instead of giving ARodg and the team their due, he's more concerned about making sure people don't forget him. Just go away already.... It is so painfully obvious he knows he pissed away a chance to win another couple rings by acting like an idiot and making himself bigger than the team. How could he not feel stupid when the world knows what a great GM and coach we have - the exact people he questioned.

Also, in terms of class he is way down the rankings, very far behind Starr, Rodgers, Dickey and Majkowski.

Really?! I just did a top 10 search and Tyson was on every single list but one and if it went to 15 my guess is he'd have been on it. I'm guessing all lists weren't by "purists" so they don’t count.

Tyson holds the record as the youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA and IBF world heavyweight titles, he was 20 years, 4 months and 22 days old. Tyson won his first 19 professional bouts by knockout. He won the WBC title in 1986. In 1987, Tyson won the WBA and IBF titles and was the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold and only Heavyweight to individually unify the WBA, WBC and IBF titles. Tyson successfully defended the world heavyweight championship nine times. He was undefeated in his first 5 years of boxing.

That sure sounds like an overrated media creation to me. My guess is you were in diapers when Tyson was doing these things and have no idea what you are talking about. Like Newz and I said...once his trainer died he started to go off the deep end and that is the media cartoon you are familiar with.

People may remember Favre the "douche" and Favre the "choke artist", but that is not who he was in the mid-90's. Favre was a dominant offensive player beyond the norm.

There were plenty of HOF offensive talents during Favre's MVP years. He shared the MVP with a player in Sanders that is the best runner in the history of the sport, IMO. There wasn't a more dangerous player in the NFL than Favre from (at least) 1995-97. It doesn't matter what happened in other seasons.

Agreed, but I'm not sure who this is directed at because as far as I can see nobody here has said Favre wasn't amazing in the 90s or wasn't a dominant offensive player. Heck, I can't stand the guy but still called him a top 10 QB ever.

Hell **** yeah,I love Rodney Harrison calling out Favre for his comments about Rodgers.

It's about time someone calls Favre out and I hope Harrison lets Favre have it on Football night in America tomorrow before our game with the Falcons.

The media creation was that he was some unstoppable freight train of destruction, incapable of being stopped. Fact of the matter is, the guy never defeated a single great fighter at any point in his career. I understand that heavyweight boxing during his reign was much like it is today, but that doesn't mean he gets a pass. I get so sick and tired of arguing with people who know about as much as EA's Fight Night bios tell them on Playstation about boxing, and say Tyson in his prime would have beat Ali. That's about as dumb a statement one could make. Any of those good heavyweights in the 60's and 70's would have made him an afterthought. The creation by the media was so effective in the 80's and early 90's that the chumps he was billed against were not only terrible fighters, but also not even getting in the ring to fight, but to defend and stay up as long as they could. It's like saying Russell Branyan was a great hitter. Sure, he could smoke a ball 450 feet from time to time but he also strikes out more than newbz with he ladies (hey oh). So I guess that's what I'm going with. Mike Tyson was like Russell Branyan if he only had to face Braden Looper and Jeff Suppan in all of his at bats.
