If we had one loss with our schedule last year, say to Michigan but beat Ohio State and Penn State in the B1G Championship, we would've been in with one loss. With this schedule? Don't think there would be any way of getting in with one loss.
Sure, but in this case there would be a way in.
If, in theory, we were 11-1 with a close loss to Michigan...and Georgia wins, TCU wins, and Stanford wins (keeping USC out of the conversation). Say Clemson wins but that one doesn't matter in this scenario.
Who is in?
Georgia, Alabama, Clemson are locks. Then it's basically between Wisconsin, TCU, Oklahoma, Miami, and maybe a 3-loss Auburn? There's a shot the Badgers get picked out of that group.
TCU would be the only conference champ and their schedule was almost as bad and they have 2 losses.
There'd be a non-zero chance of getting in is all I'm saying. It would actually be reasonable. I'm sure the committee would take TCU or maybe still Oklahoma, but we'd have a gripe if nothing else.
