Yeah after learning the hard way I immediately cancel as soon as I subscribe. I still get the remaining month and they won't get more than $7.99 from me.

Also I switched to Verizon Internet to get free NFL Sunday Ticket which was a nice giveaway although I still need Peacock for this game.

Sao Paulo beefs up security for NFL game between Eagles, Packers

Sao Paulo has tightened security ahead of the first NFL game in South America after players voiced concerns about traveling to Latin America's largest country, the Brazilian state said Wednesday.

Brazil will host the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers on Friday at Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo, the first NFL game on the continent and the first Week 1 game held on a Friday evening since 1970.

Eagles players have questioned security in the city, the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.

"We had a meeting with a whole bunch of 'don't do's.' So, I'm just trying to go down there, win a football game and come back home," wide receiver A.J. Brown told reporters last week.

He said players were advised not to walk on the streets holding cellphones.

I’ve never been but, way too much is being made of how bad Brazil and São Paulo might be. I have been to Philly thou and it’s pretty terrible itself. Especially some sections like Kensington. Which is known to be one of the worst and most drugged out areas of the world right now. There’s also this game I played on my way to their arenas area, which is the only reason I’ve been there. It’s called School, Church or Jail? because you can’t tell the 3 apart. Concrete buildings with tall concrete walls fully surrounding them with razor wire of top.
So yeah, be informed, take some extra precautions and security, stay in a group, don’t be an idiot and you’ll most likely be fine. Nowhere is completely safe as things can happen everywhere every day.

I feel very comfortable stating that Sao Paulo is much more dangerous than a random NFL city for an NFL player.

How different is São Paulo compared to Mexico City? The NFL has been there multiple times already.
A rookie got shot in SF this year.

Well I've never heard about teams/players/fans being told from the Mexican government not to wear their team colors cause the liklihood of getting assaulted would skyrocket so there's that.

This argument you seem to useing sounds a whole lot like the "You can't point how bad that place is cause look there's bad things that happen over here" argument

Street crime won't run for 100 yards but Saquon Barkley might.

Perhaps teams are being overly cautious. It's hard to say, as I don't really care enough to do the analysis about how much more dangerous Sãn Paulo is than, say, Philly. I imagine like any city, there are more dangerous parts and safer parts and as long as you're vigilant and smart you're likely to be fine. They hosted a World Cup and Summer Olympics a few years ago without much fuss, from what I recall. And they regularly host major international events.

But I'd rather they err on the side of caution than being too lax. This is an international trip and it's easy for players who aren't paying attention to get taken advantage of by nefarious folks targeting rich tourists.

This is first game there. No one knows what to expect. Caution is smart. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I was there this winter for a month and had zero problems, the nice areas are quite safe especially with the police walking around with assault rifles. The bad areas though are very dangerous. Compared to Rio, Salvador, and most other major Brazilian cities sao paolo has less crime.

I don't think it was the Brazilian government that said it, but the team that owns of the stadium. Their biggest rival wears green, so they didn't want anyone wearing green at the stadium. It was more about rivalry than security, because most of the soccer fans, especially the ones who root in these "gangs", don't care about American football and don't have money to pay for these tickets.

I lived around 35 years in Brazil and never had problems there, but you have to act smart and do not show off (and we know that most of the NFL players will wear gold jewelry if they decide to hang out...). You cant walk at 2AM in the streets like I do in Europe, but to be fair, I couldn't do it when I lived in Orlando or San Francisco as well.

To sum up, they are playing safe because it would be a bad rep for NFL and Brazil, but I don't expect any problem at all before, during or after the game.

Doesnt seem horrible to pay $20 to watch one game and exhaust their list of movies over the next four months. I know people who pay like $150+ a month for TV. I think people just HATE paying individually even if its better.

I think part of it is even if Philly isnt safer, they know where to go and have fun. They are being told not to have fun because they are aware enough of the area to know what is safe and what isn't.

I think our WRs will do really well especially with Eagle DB and LB missing the game.

Went to Brazil about a year ago, two ladies and myself. My lady is a cheap a$$ and booked 70% of our air b&bs in favelas. We stayed in Sao Paulo, Rio, Iguazu Falls/ Argentina. Almost every place we ate and went to in Sao Paulo and Rio , they told us to not use our phones in public...( We were trying to use them as translators). There are also some nice parts to Sao Paulo and Rio... and some not so nice parts. Liberdad is kind of sketchy. Vidigal was in Rio, but was right next to paradise, so your brain is like how is this a crime ridden place? It can be difficult to tell what is good and bad parts because there is graffiti all over the place, more so "street art" Ubers wouldn't go to some parts... That is a good indicator of the bad areas. We had some Brazillian family/friends pick us up from the place we stayed to meet up for dinner. The lady legit ran back to her car... Tried to convince us to get a different place to stay over dinner... They legit have a bullet proof vehicle down there.

There was a racing team that had their bus robbed a few years back, so I am guessing they are being cautious with extra security... You get about 100+ millionaires in one place, you do create an opportunity for some folks to plan bad things.

All that being said, I felt safe most of the time. Maybe 3 or 4 times I felt something was off, and removed ourselves from the situation.

We didn't stay out super late and I am a big dude, so I think that helped some.
