Pacers interested in a non-JO draft day trade?
If someone were to fall to #11 like Westbrook or B. Lopez it would probably stop this deal from happening, because Pacers would take them. However, I don't anticipate that.
If the draft goes as expected, the BPA at #11 will most likely be Augustin, Alexander, Arthur, Jordan, Speights, or Budinger.
I think POR is very interested in Joe Alexander, but I don't think he last to #13. POR has expressed interest in packaging Jack with the #13 to move up. So I suggested a trade to POR fans, that they seem fairly interested in. I want to post this here to.
Diogu
#11 (Alexander)
FOR
Jack
#13 (Augustin/BPA)
#36 (C. Lee/BPA)
Pacer fans, what do you think about swapping Jack for Diogu & getting #36 pick for only moving down a few spots?

This sounds good to me-- or at least I'd strongly consider it for sure.
I have a feeling that we'll end up drafting Alexander anyways even though we don't need another SF-- but I'm not against drafting him, he could create some very serious mismatches on the court with his freakish strength and speed.

I agree, not the greatest of options, he has TO problems. However, to me Jack is an upgrade over Tinsley (because he is never healthy) and Diener. I also would take Jack over Augustin because Augustin is a rookie and has size issues.
Plus, Jack has more value than Diogu, and Pacers still get to pick at #13 & #36. Yeah, Jack isn't the greatest option, but I think this trade improves the Pacers.

Absolutely. If we don't pick Joe Alexander, he's essentially guaranteed to last to #13 and Portland. Sacramento isn't going to take another SF when they are planning on Ron Artest returning, and they already have John Salmons and Francisco Garcia ready to step up into the starting role there at SF. They're looking for a young PG, much like we are.
However, if we could get a deal of Jarret Jack, the #13 and an early second rounder for Diogu and our #11, that's almost a no-brainer that we have to accept.
Diogu for Jack is relatively even, and only trading down two spots to pick up an early second rounder (read: very cheap salary on a non-guaranteed contract that could fill out our roster) is a pretty decent deal, unless we are completely sold on someone at #11 that Sacramento would pick at #12.

McGee has the makings of a bust, but I don't see it in Alexander. He probably has a stigma because he's white, but he also measured out as the best athlete in the draft class and has a lot of skills to go with it, as well as an alleged "maniacal" work ethic. I'd love to have him as a PF in our small-ball scheme.

So are we the Atlanta Hawks of SFs? Or what?

The top athlete doesnt mean a whole lot to me. After all, wasnt DJ Strawberry the top athlete last year, and David Noel the year before? Durant was 78th out of 80 players last year. Alexander didnt wow me at West Virginia, he doesnt strike me as the type that can play the power forward full time in the NBA, and his basketball decision making and shooting doesnt level out with his freakish athleticism.

I understand getting either Augustin or Jack...but not both. Diener may not be the best Starting PG...but he is already on the books and should be adequate as our backup PG given the way that we play.

I am guessing in the long run.....Augustin will likely be better.....but if size is a concern....then why even bother with Augustin over Jack? It's not like Augustin is going to grow a few inches.
If we get Jack....I would much rather spend the pick on some Frontcourt PF/C depth rather then add yet another PG to our rotation and then draft a Guard in the 2nd round.
Given the relatively high value of the early 2nd round picks....I would even consider including the 41st pick in exchange for the 36th pick.
As for Ike....I don't think that he would fit in the Blazers up-tempo ball-movement offense.

You had the theory, almost. The #36 would've been huge for us. However, you whiffed pretty big on the player's involved.
It was decently close though. You had the theory down, almost.
