Seems pretty accurate to me. Carr got dropped 2 full points for his pick 6, the OL got obliterated in the run game, but Mack was a monster, Autry was fantastic, the DL overall was great. Really impressed with MEJ after a stumble out of the gates. Malcolm Smith looks like a find as well. Our defense looking pretty solid except at DB, where Hayden's penalties are becoming a problem. Just too many stupid mistakes.
Agree with most of the assessment.
The play of the Oline vs the rush needs to take into account the opponent. The Cards front 7 is possibly the best in the league mixing big powerful explosive players in their prime with creative and aggressive scheme and coaching. Not totally passing the buck but it's like saying a tackle played like garbage vs JJ Watt. You have to look at both sides.
That said, we definitely got worse when Watson went down. Okafor was eating Howard's lunch for a series and a half and then he got with it. Watson had trouble with him too tho. Okafor is just a beast on the level with Mack. Last year he was really abusing RTs and was left on a island often. Still came away with 8 sacks. And frighteningly has gotten more explosive.
Hayden had good technique on the jam was solid but he got tied up disengaging due to Brown leaning into him to push off for separation. That is more an incidental contact sort of thing then a reason to find fault with Hayden. To say that the penalties are becoming a problem would imply that you took that penalty as mistake by Hayden and that you were at the Game vs MIN and seen the play vs Charles Johnson and seen the Illegal contact. Hayden, Johnson and Woodson (who was closest to Johnson in the zone coverage they were playing)
were out of camera view. Not passing the buck once again, but stating that we don't know what happened.
We can't say it was a bad play by Hayden. Officials CAN make mistakes, in the call overall or the # they call the flag on (25 Hayden or 24 CWood). It could have been a double move by Johnson where he starts out running a Go route and then stutter steps and turns it into a crossing route causing a contact by a player closing on the move. Or it could have be a legit flag on Hayden. My point is we don't know.
