He had to do the foul from there on out. I couldn't believe we just stood there and let him stay hot like that. Norm was guarding him too :banghead:

Those two turnovers killed us. Why is Westbrook here when he is still bringing the ball up the court.

Just don't have him bring the ball up the court and then try and play-make. He has such a shaky handle for that and he can't make passes under pressure, but Ty keeps going to this setup for god-knows-why.

It's horrible you have Kawhi, Russ, Powell, I would take 5 other guys bringing up the ball over PG. Once again he is a very poor man's Harden bringing up the ball and play making. This isn't solely on PG, Ty Lue needs to recognize this too

Time to take a breath lol

This has been happening for seasons (plural) and everytime it fails because of a boneheaded PG play, the camera always shows Ty's irked face, but it keeps happening. I think it's a managerial move to keep PG interested/feeling involved.

Honestly I like PG but I have had it up to here with him. If we underperform this year he needs to go before anyone.

He's a great player, he's just so frustrating to watch. We need to stop highlighting his weaknesses with our playcalling... Ty needs to.

Not even mad but that’s a terrible loss against a team in a b2b.

Choking in key moments of the game is what keeps George from rising to superstar status like Leonard. I just don't think he has it in him. He is definitely a star player, just not in the rarified air of superstar like Leonard.

I don't know how the Clippers can make it through the upcoming buzzsaw that the Western Conference Playoffs are going to be with George making those type of mistakes when it counts.

And, I don't think Leonard has it in him anymore either to play at such a high level where he can overcome his own teammates undermining his superstar performance like today's game. Maybe if he was a bit younger and had the stamina of Michael Jordan lol.

I remember he complained that Doc used him more for a spot up shooter role. I'm no Doc fan but I'm thinking that he was on the something now.

This was one of the greatest games in NBA history. We fielded yet another pickup team and only lost by 1. It was the greatest game in Sacramento Kings history this century and surely in their top 10 of all time.

I enjoyed it tremendously. I will never understand fans who only look for somebody to blame. Tonight was a statement game for the Sacs; for us it was a Ty's first experiment with his new roster, with 2 of them starting for the first time.

We play the Kings again on March 3. Zubac will be back. Empty your diapers, people.

Denver on Sunday. I like our chances.

i know a lot of guys were hopeful about westbrook, and this is not a "told you so" thing - far from it. i thought he did reasonably good things all game. a couple dumb things, sure. shot too many 3's, sure. but his actual own play wasn't the only issue here.

it seemed pretty clear his impact was going to alter mann and gordon's minutes. by how much? well, by a LOT more than i thought. i mean i joked that lue would play him 39mpg for the rest of the season and he had 39 tonight. i also "joked" in another thread mann would be put back to 15mpg role player duty. and he got 17 tonight. in a game with TWO OVERTIMES. and i put joked in quotations because i wasn't really joking.

lue was going to lessen the minutes of the guys who have made tremendous impact on the team. all that paul george dumpster fire passing and ball handling and playmaking stuff went out the window with gordon/bones taking up space in the second unit and gordon becoming the de facto crunch time PG.

but this time around paul george went back to being the selfish "playmaking" d-wad he's been all season, even in the scant time he shared with mann on the court. mann/gordon were not prioritized as the ballhandlers. to me, this team is actually really good when paul george doesn't have to handle the ball or pass it. but if westbrook is taking the minutes of the guys who de-tasked him from those duties, what's the point, even? we're just back to square one. this team is basically just gonna spin its wheels again like it has all season, because kawhi's going to go off, then go to the bench, paul george is gonna scheme his way into think he's lebron and start throwing the ball ALL over the place, and lue's gonna just sit there and watch, as gordon/mann watch silently from the bench.

20 more games of this stuff that we had straight up already SOLVED, until paul george had to open his god damn mouth and put us right back where we were.

20 more games. can't wait

i recall this as well. he seemed to think he was above being a ray allen type.

well i mean guess what, paul george? ray allen was a superstar who checked his ego so he could win, and he won a lot.

this is my own speculation but i'm guessing paul george went to lue and said "i wanna be the MAN so let me handle the ball" and lue acquiesced. up to this point i pretty much thought it was lue trying to develop him as such, but after seeing paul george manipulate the organization into signing westbrook, i now think that whole thing could have been the other way around. i mean why else is he now trying to be the playmaker of the second unit again?

send this guy off in the offseason, imo.

There was a period of time tonight when PG was letting Westbrook bring everything up then all of a sudden we switched it to PG coming up with Russ sitting in the corner. Idk if PG or Ty Lue changed it but it should be obvious that is not a recipe for success. It wasn't a bad game by any means. If we were 10 games up I would place it in the **** happens category. But man every win counts right now we can't be doing this stuff in a crucial part of the season.

Rough loss. Kings offense seemed like an avalanche, it’s just poured on and on, and they made us pay for costly dumbass turnovers. Kings really proved their cohesiveness and top ranked offense tonight too, dayum haha

Oh well, on to the next one. Amazing and fun game otherwise, and a masterclass from Kawhi.

Still a couple things we can do to get better.

He should never be the play maker. His best tonight was when he was funny enough spot up shooting from Russ and Batum or driving from a pass. He does not have the speed or ball handling to be the other.

He should also never be the go to guy in clutch moments or the final play that should always be Kawhi.

All this team needs is a few adjustments to the lineup and we are gold. The issue is does the organization actually do it or are they too worried about hurting egos.

Denver plays at Memphis on Saturday and at home versus the Clippers on Sunday. Clippers have to win this next one right?

i wonder if it means anything to ty lue or the front office that we have perhaps the ultimate closer in the NBA yet against good teams in close games we somehow fail the same way, time and time again

Just needed Zu really. He would've shut down a lot of that easy easy EASY scoring in the paint that they had all night long. Ugly ugly sequence from PG late in the 4th to negate a pretty good game by him. Kawhi who put on a masterclass seemed to run out of gas. Good opening game from Westbrook. Not sure why Norm was in the game when we needed crucial stops and why didn't we foul instead of letting Monk shoot that three to send the game into the first overtime?
