I wouldn't be surprised if Moe harkless ends up a Laker.esqtvd wrote:clipperlover wrote:QRich3 wrote:Ugh so apparently we not only gave this year's 1st rounder and Detroit's 2nd rounder next year, but we also gave the Knicks the right to swap 1st round picks next year (top 4 protected). It's very unlikely that the Knicks would finish above us next year, but if for some reason everything goes wrong, we're gonna be paying another lottery pick for 3 months of Marcus Morris![]()
You are assuming two things happen:
1. The Clippers have a dramatic collapse
2. The Knicks have a major improvement
The Clips gamble is that the Knicks won't make the playoffs next year and the Clips could possibly miss. If the Clips just missed the playoffs, they could end up drafting in the Top 3 (if the ball goes their way). We are protected in that event. So we are really talking about the difference between the #5 pick and the #14. Considering PG (#10) is the only player on our entire roster drafted higher than #14, I don't think they are worried.
You are getting worked up over nothing.
I think sweeteners like this pick-swap business are to help the other GM save face with the fans. Same as in the PG deal, just a bunch of argy-bargy to make it look like they got more than they actually did.
Pretty clever stuff from the best-paid FO in the NBA. Harkless is dead man walking--all NYK really got for a real asset was a garbage pick.
