What the hell do Julius Erving and Moses Malone have to do with this thread?

Stay on topic please.

To get Odom's offense going? Trade him to the Suns.

That offense fits his offensive style.

He should do OK with a running team.
I wonder how he would do with all the pick&rolls they run.

Deity Allah wrote:I've sat back and lurked on this forum for a couple of months now and have never said a word. I had no idea that Lamar Odom was this hated by Laker fans. Odom has been my favorite player in the league since he came out of Rhode Island and I was disgusted when he unfortunately was traded to The Lakers. Anybody but the Lakers I said when it happened. Knowing that his talent and abilities will not be appreicated by Lakers nor their fans and Phil Jackson's Triangle Offense.

Even through that, I have felt that he picked up the Triangle well and has gone beyond the call of duty by playing out of position since he's been on the Lakers. He's a small forward who've they have had 90% of the time playing the 4 since he's been there.

When does Phil let him play to his strengths? The only time I ever get to see him isolate (which he does well) it's MAYBE once a game. Run a couple of Iso's and motion plays for him and let him create which he can do but is not great at in the structure of the triangle.

You guys say all he can do is go Left. True, but he's still effective when he drives and goes left. Kinda like how everybody knew were Kukoc would go and yet still couldn't stop him even though he was slow as lava. He'll either set somebody up, get fouled or get a lay-up.

It's like you guys want him to be a bruiser down low, but he's not build for that. He's like 6'10 and what, like 215 ibs, lol. I know i'm exhaggerating but overall a long haul all tha bangin' has hurt him as far as his production. Look at the shoulder injuries he's had. The same one two years straight as a result of playing out of position.

I do agree that he shouldn't take as many outside shoots (3's) that he does, but to be honest, he only takes like what 8 shots a game or somewhere around there so it looks to me that he just gets frustrated with the offensive and just hoists up a couple of shoots here and there just because.

Odom isn't the problem, it's the coaching staff neglect to help play to their 2nd best players strengths. And yes, Odom is a better PLAYER than Bynum.

I'm not saying completely deviate from your offensive PHILosophy as a team, but put in place some wrinkles to make Lamar more effective. It's mind blowing to me how all he does now is run back and forth down the court and hit the block for rebounds. I can't even remember the last time I saw him bring the ball up the court without somebody else standing right next to him with their hands out waiting for him to pass them the ball so they could bring the rock up, smh.

Anyways, again, get rid of him, trade him. His talent shouldn't be rotting away on a team that doesn't even appreciate his game yet alone work effort and personal sacrifice shaving years off his career by playing him out of position for so many years.

Congratulations, your knowledge of basketball is lower than Lamar's BBIQ. Lamar is a PF and will never be a SF. Bynum is already a better player than Lamar will ever be. Much like the Kwame defenders on this board, how come Lamar is really not much better than when he came into the league? Bynum practiced harder to improve his game this off-season than Lamar and Kwame have combined in their entire careers.

Play Sasha Vujacic instead of Lamar Odom and he will play better.

Well i cant front and pretend i read the entire thread because it's the same hyperboly and crap that usually comes after Lamar has had a bad game or two.

With that said i think this is one of the best topics as originally stated that i have seen in quite a while

Personally i think as many other sometime think Lamar is not really the best player to play along side a dominant player such as Kobe. Perhaps playing alongside Wade suits his style of play a little better.
(Thats not an open invitation to turn this into a trade thread)

Lamar is one of the most versatile players in the league right now and i think with proper development Durant may someday rival him in that catagory.

To end on topic i would say Lamar does not wield the mental capacity to do more on the offensive end than he currently does...sure he will have good games and bad games just like everyone else but one who totally understands basketball and psychoanalytic theory would agree that Phil is getting the most out of Lamar than we can get with this current team makeup.

Lamar on most other teams is going to most likely be an all star player but with this team he is handcuffed and or hindered.

So we would be kiding ourselves by thinking we can get more out of him with this current team makeup (Kobe)

My friends it's really time to trade the great player named Lamar Odom while he still has value
