Nash just doesn't work on this team, he's going to be a spot-up shooter because he can't break down defenses in the half court.

And Dwight can't dominate in the post.

And our shooters aren't consistent enough to shoot.

This is a team that doesn't make sense, that never did in the first place.

A fair argument can be made that the pieces of our team don' fit well with one another but in my opinion all of our problems could easily be solved with a healthy Dwight. When healthy he can guard the paint by himself but so far this year he's been nowhere near the Dwight we were hoping to see and with Pau out it leaves our team extremely vulnerable against teams with good perimeter shooter because our defenders have to sag down to help Dwight guard the basket.

Speculate all you want about lack of effort or not fully recovered, I'm in the Dwight isn't healthy but doing the best he can camp, from back injury the fact remains Dwight isn't giving us what we need on a nightly basis to give us a chance to win. Dwight used to be able to absolutely dominate anyone near the basket and now he's getting pushed around by anyone and everyone. It's tough to watch because our season depends on him getting right. There's still time but it's looking more and more like it's not going to happen this year.

Our defense is just awful. We're forced to play against mismatches all the time because nash cant guard a point guard. Kobe doesnt know how to play off ball D and he isnt quick enough anymore to guard the point guard. Metta always extends his defense out to way past the three point line which gives the opponent that much more room beat him off the dribble like LeBron did in the Miami game.

We all expect Dwight to be this defensive savior but first of all he isnt healthy and 2nd of all if he was he wouldnt be able to cover everyone elses man. We have always been bad at giving up the three but we never gave up inside layups or dunks. Everyone would rotate and at worst we would give up a wide open three. Now we give up both. My next point is that everyone is hating on Dwight too much. How many times do we actually give him the ball in the post and give him room to operate? I've seen him seal a guy and be open countless times and we hesitate just a little and are not able to give him the ball.

Also, I feel like we try the Kobe in the high post a little too much. No one is happy with Kobe getting a fadeaway jumper and anymore and thats basically all we get with that play

It was on at work, which is rare, and especially odd being Valentine's day, and it didn't seem like much of a game. Didn't catch a single highlight.

Disappointing, but a very good team with too much firepower for us.

Hard to make too much out of it when we're playing with no center.

I think you may be pointing to Howard not being 100% but even if he gets fully healthy I don't think there will be much change on the offensive end. He's far to limited.

I watch the game and think, "Kobe is a better offensive player" option then anything the Clippers have and Dwight is a better defensive player. In theory. But the Lakers just executed terribly. This game had little to do with the Clippers...other then they did play their normal game. The Lakers just didn't compete.

milesfides wrote:Steve Nash was just dominated by Chris Paul. He's mostly done - we'll never see the Steve Nash that played so well, because no team will be built around him to cover his flaws and maximize his strengths.

He's best as a spot up shooter and a freelance scorer when he has a soft defender on him. Against the top teams, he's just a spot up shooting specialist, period. If we rely on him, he will get trapped, abused on both ends of the floor by Tony Parker, Westbrook, Chris Paul.

Metta is just inconsistent with his shot, calls his number too much, and can't play an up and down game.

This team is just not good enough, period.

Dwight is playing like he doesn't care.

Earl has been our second best player, but tonight is a reminder that he's still inexperienced and has a lot to prove - lots of players have played great for stretches, especially during contract years. Is he legit, will he bring it every night, will he improve?

It's sad, but the guy who's still shoulder the team is a 34 and a half year old guy who's busting his ass, trying to change his game and do whatever he has to do to win.

This team needs change.

If you're going to call everyone else out then you need to call out Kobe. He was very slow and apathetic on D. Billups had 21 pts in 16 minutes of play and Kobe guarded him every time.

moonpie wrote:No gifs tonight, that was a pretty pathetic performance by everyone out there tonight. I mean seriously when news comes out of the good Doctor's imminent passing, you come out and lay this assshat of a game? Even if the players didn't give a damn about their owner, they should give a damn about their rapidly dwindling playoff window. OK OK maybe they don't even care about that. But FFS, have some damn pride will ya? You're gonna let the Clippers come in your OWN HOME and have their way with you? Disgusting. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, this season as a whole has been absolutely cursed. I'm serious you go to the dictionary and look up Murphy's Law, you'll see a picture of this Lakers squad.

We're not out of the playoffs yet, but this team lacks an identity, chemistry, and most importantly HEART. Too many individual agendas out there, not enough TEAM FIRST. There's no I in TEAM folks. Unless they can shed that mentality, it's gonna be a quick out. This organization as a whole (from the owners to the coaches to players) is going to have to do a lot of soul searching this summer. You would hope that the team would come out energized and ready to kick ass next season, but if not (which is actually a goddamn possibility FFS), then that's fine I suppose. Clear the books for 2014 and CHECK THE SIG.

Bingo. This is the one game I don't feel the need to analyze in terms of personnel or what was done or not done. The team came out with no energy and heart right away and it was pathetic. Nash looked like he wanted to take a nap, Howard play video games, and Clark got flustered once his shot didn't fall the first time. Lazy, lazy, stupid! How can you not be up for this game!!
