Trade Ingram, Randle, Clarkson and the Houston pick for Butler.
PG: Lonzo Ball/ Shaun Livingston/ Tyler Ennis
SG: D'Angelo Russell/ Nick Young/
SF: Jimmy Butler/ Andre Iguoudala/ David Nwaba/
PF: Larry Nance Jr/ Luol Deng/
C: Ivica Zubac/ Timofey Mozgov/ Tarik Black/
Give Livingston a 2 year deal worth 5M a season. Iguoudala a 1 year, 15M dollar deal.
That's a team that can make a run and set things up nicely for 2018, when we'll have max cap space + extra to obtain other free agents.
That's way too much for Butler. And are you saying you would rather have Lonzo Ball than Brandon Ingram? Because you could have easily put the top three pick instead of Ingram in your hypothetical trade.
Yeah, I'd rather have Ball than Ingram, because of the player we'd getting.
Is Ingram going to be as good as Butler? I don't think so. It's certainly possible, but if he ended up as good as Butler, we'd all be happy. When you add on the fact that Butler's contract is no where near a max in the years that we'll have cap space, it's an easy decision for me.
Hopefully we could get him without giving up Randle. However, if that's what had to be done, I'd do it.
The eventual hope is to attain George in 2018, so you have a line-up of Ball/Butler/George/Nance/Zubac with Russell off the bench playing 32+ minutes a game.
