Yeah, in the Chinese Basketball Association.
Hate to tell you, but he's washed. Cory Brewer is 10x better than Deng and he's a lot cheaper.
Corey Brewer is the worst player on our team. The guy is a wannabe Kobe, but with zero skills. Deng is an above average starter as a Pf. He is a good defender, and as a Pf in Miami he had a true shooting percentage of 63%. As a Sf, he was at 52%. Say whatver random BS about the money he's making, and the length of the contract. But don't ever say that he is worse than Brewer. Brewer is absolutely terrible.
did we watch the same Corey Brewer ?
This is just an example of two guys needing "moderance".
One: "Deng is washed up, ten times inferior to Corey Brewer."
Two: "Brewer is 'the worst', Deng's an above-average starter."
The truth is in between.
Brewer and Deng are BOTH quite serviceable in the proper role.
Brewer is in the perfect role. He'll play 12-15 minutes a game at most as a defensive, slashing, change of pace SF.
Most importantly though, he is the perfect guy to guard and challenge Ingram in practice, long enough and laterally quick enough to keep Ingram on his toes and old enough to know enough tricks to push the kid.
Deng "needs" to know that he will almost exclusively defend PFs. That's his role now. When he has that desired role, he'll play similar to Deng of two seasons ago.
