This is kinda of a plan D for the Lakers. Butler hasn't been the same defender he was for the last few years after his original knee injury and he had knee problems again this last year. Butler seems more like a Knicks signing to me. A guy that'll be 30 next summer, with knee injuries, and a run down body thanks to thibodeau.

Agree. Butler is a fine player, but I'll pass.

LA should explore Deng and Ball type deal for him at the deadline if Ball doesn't break through and Lavar acts an ass. You have Jimmy's rights and the chance to bring him back or sign Leonard.

Butler is a stud but Leonard or Klay make more sense and he seems to prefer the East Coast... I can seen him in Brooklyn or NY...

Not really... They're actually quite close. Not as close as say Brooklyn, Clippers, Sixers and Lakers, but quite close

Assuming:
1. Stretch Noah
2. Renounce everyone except Porzingis and maybe Burke

New York needs to find two trades:
1. Find expirings for Lee, shouldn't be overly hard
2. Dump/find expirings for THJ, if they use the 2019 FRP, it shouldn't be that hard.

Note: the 2019 FRP's cap hold is an impediment to 2 max FA anyway

The latter would, of course, be contingent on getting a verbal yes that a second max FA comes along

We're talking about the Knicks.

I'd say he's a solid backup plan if we can't get Leonard in.

If the Laker's trade Deng and Ingram for Kawhi, would that open enough cap room to also sign Jimmy in the offseason? Would the Laker's also have to include a little more salary?

Jimmy is plan C at best. Plan A is Kawhi but at this moment I'd gamble signing him in free agency than trade for him using Ingram because Ingram is plan B. We see how he (and Kuzma) play this year because if they had a great season the need for Jimmy won't be necessary anymore.

Now, in case Kawhi stays in Toronto and Ingam (and Kuz) doesn't live up with the expectations this season then that is the only time you take a look at Jimmy. I like Jimmy but at this point he is not a priority . We have Ingram, LBJ and we're eyeing Kawhi. That puts Jimmy as the least priority then you add the upcoming wing free agents next year (Durant and Klay) that even lowers the need for Jimmy. Just in case we sign Jimmy I believe it won't be a max contract.
