Watching highlights of the Spurs in the early decade and they all revolve around post-play, lots and lots of it with two shooters on the wing that can flat out knock it down. Kobe's 3 point percentage might not be great but with an open shot I'd hate to give him an open 3 at any time.

Artest though is a problem. There's a reason they want a Crawford or a Smith.
Expect Barnes-Artest to be looked at as serious prospects for a possible trade out of L.A. and for Tayshaun Prince to be a guy high on their radar. Steve Blake on the other hand will be alright.

MLE- Prince
BAE- Jeff Foster
Draft- Norris Cole, E'Twaun Moore

You say we need guys who can play D and hit the 3 and then say Artest is a problem and a good candidate to be traded ... am I missing something? Artest is the best 3 pt shooter on our team and a great defender as well ... I'd take a Tay Prince on a vet min contract as a backup to Ron but I'd rather have Vince Carter as EnigmaticProblem suggested ... great back-up for Kobe or even game closer at the 2 wikth Kobe moving to the 3 ...

I like the Carter suggestion.

I don't think Artest's percentage is realistic though. His 3s are WIDE OPEN and he's only hitting 34.5%? That's not good enough. Give Fisher and a few others those same looks it would be a different story.

If we keep Artest and sign Carter, I would draft a David Lighty (guards the guy Carter can't) and then focus all efforts on the PG spot perhaps with a Ramon Sessions deal.

I'm all for Lighty too ... as for Artest, just look at his 3pt % before he came to LA ... the guy is a very good 3-pt shooter.

Of course. Highly doubt Minnesota does it though.

And the Lakers have until July 1 to be "active this summer". Hopefully they are.

Ive been reading stuff on the intewebs and it does seem that they are trying to move Love which I find odd. But they are really trying to get some triangle players. Also Pau playing with Rubio would be very good for Rubio. Having his national team Captain on the floor with him every night would wonders for Rubio's transition.

Desperately trying to ship Flynn point to the fact they are trying to make space for Rubio. Plus who knows what they are going to do in the draft. I guess Minny would prefer Pau 15 an 8 over Love's 20 rebounds a night.

If I am the Lakers I would add Blake and all four 2nd round draft picks to sweeten the deal...

I doubt Flynn has anything left, especially with his sort of injury. . .

Flynn cant play much defense but is a quick guard and is good for a Run N' Gun team. I see him being linked to NYK for Tony Douglas, which means its now less likely for the Minny-LAL deal to go down.

Love and the 2nd overall pick stand a chance of coming here according to articles and you're worried about Flynn. lol

I for one don't believe this rumor, but if it is true then Kahn's either stupider than we've all thought or he wants out of Minnesota. And if a deal is to go through it would be for a lot more than just Gasol, Odom and filler would most likely be involved. Kahn is a known idiot, but he would not commit career suicide in such a lopsided trade that is Gasol for Love/2nd/Flynn.

A trade like this would certainly take us out of Howard contention, unless LAL is willing to trade Love which would just seem bad for business. And what would LAL do with that 2nd overall pick? Draft a player? Scrape together the remaining assets with it and swing a trade for Paul?

As I said before I don't believe this could ever happen, but just as it seems one door is closing (Pau's future), 10 more doors open.

I agree I see him in NYC with Jimmer.

Man its going to be a long off season. While I haven't been as optimistic about the Lakers chances of acquiring Dwight with our current assets other posters are, I do believe that if Pau Gasol was traded to the T'Wolves for either Kevin Love or the 2nd pick (Williams), that player would be used in a package along with Bynum to try and net Dwight. Orlando will be looking for young assets if they deal Dwight. Bynum and Williams in return is a pretty good value.

As far as the deal the OP mentioned I don't think Pau Gasol can land you Kevin Love. He is much younger than Pau and Minny seems high on him. Now maybe a Pau for the 2nd is possible. Outside of Irving and Williams I don't feel that anyone else is worthy of the top 2 picks. Williams doesn't really fit the T'Wolves needs because they already have Beasley and Love at the 3 and 4 spots.

There is no way I trade Pau to Minny for the 2nd or Love unless we are preparing to make a second trade for an elite player because it won't be enough to win a championship next year.

I see the making that offer for Drew but not for Pau. If they do, Kupchak be stylin' on the NBA.

This Lakers/T-Wolves rumor involving Gasol for Love and the #2 pick that I just saw on PTI.. Is this actually possible? Lakers need to jump on that ASAP if it's available.

That's whats being reported so far. It's also being reported that the Lakers want a pick in the 1st round, keep in mind that Ric Bucher is reporting it though. Gasol has even come out in some Spanish interview saying he doesn't want to be traded.

I'm not sure how likely a deal is but things are definitely getting interesting.

I think it has more to do with the late first round. They may decide that a few million and a couple of their 2nds are worth a mid 20s 1st round pick. All in all it's a great way to bridge trading Vujajic, saving cash, and getting that pick right back.

If they can get high enough to get Reggie Jackson they're already making a big impact on next year's team and are just a good large SG, plus Jeff Foster away from being ready to go.

I'd drop Pau for Love and the #2. They can have all our seconds as well.

If there is any chance lakers can trade Gasol for Love and the number 2 lakers should jump all over it id include anything outside of odom bynum kobe... Now I dont think Min does it so dont call me a homer but I think Brandon Knight will be the best player in this draft

Yeah I wouldn't make much of all of this but as soon as Pau came out and said he doesn't want to get traded that grabbed my attention.

Pau is making over 17 million next year. Hope Minn has that much under the cap. Love must make around 5 million. So that makes it about 12 million Minn would need to have free and clear.

I see this as the trade of the day. A new one will pop up later this week I bet.

Pau got us 2 rings...Can not forget that.

Do need to get younger at any cost.
