I would love him as the HC but he has to bring in another offensive guy. Ty Lue is much better when it comes to scheme.
I think Monty would be a great sell to potential free agents too. He's got a way about him with people and building relationships. You take Monty & LeBron to a pitch meeting and I would feel pretty damn comfortable with that.
But his scheme offensively really worries me. Reminds me too much of Luke in that sense.
Monty has a record of 173 wins and 221 losses for under 44%.
First year with CP3, David West, Okafor, Ariza etc. his team was good with defense, 10th in the league, 19th on offense, 46 wins
2nd year, he loses CP3,West etc but gains Gordon, Aminu, still had ARiza. etc, they win just 21 wins. Yes, losing CP3 etc took a heavy toll but IMO, they have not excuse losing so much esp seeing Thibs, JVG, Rivers etc lose superstars before.
3rd year, they get Davis, Anderson, Vasquez, Still had Gordon, just 27 wins, 28th in defense, 16th offense
4th year, freaking 34 wins, 27th in defense, 13th offense inspited of adding Tyreke Evans, Jrue for 34 games.
5th year, 45 wins but was still ranked a very low
22nd on defense, 8th on offense inspite of having Omar Asik who had a great 94 DRTG with the Bulls. '
Lue in fairness was also pretty bad on defense but at least he put his stamp on offense ESPECIALLY when he lost Kyrie to Boston, ranking 5th best on ORTG.
