Fultz at 4? Most scouts have him not only as the best player in the draft, but in a tier above everyone else. Curious what your reasoning is.

I think Fultz is a SG in the mold of CJ McCollum. The three ahead of him play both sides of the ball and are bigger. I see a lot of Melo with Tatum, and Bosh with Isaac.

What do you guys think of hyped up HS prospects vs guys who have risen up the draft boards because of their college play? I posted the same thing on LG, but I'll post it here because I want your guys' opinions.

You can argue that Russell and Ingram were late bloomers that were not very well known in High School, who had to prove their worth throughout the college season. Guys like A. Davis, Ben Simmons, Wiggons, Okafor, etc. were extremely hyped before starting college, and still remained so, throughout college and up until the draft.

It seems like we somewhat have something similar...Ball was not as well known, while Jackson was always a top-3 prospect, before even stepping foot on a college basketball court.

So, is it better to be in the former or the latter group, or is it too much of a mixed bag (with mixed results) to form any conclusions?

Players have to be looked at on a case by case basis. Also, I wouldn't consider Dlo, Lonzo, and Ingram genuine late bloomers. They were all McDs all Americans and ranked in at least the top 15 going into college.
If you wanna talk true late bloomers, look no further than guys who ended up at small schools like Steph, Lillaird, McCollum.

I love your big board man. Everything numbers related says Lonzo is better than Fultz, but I think Fultz is the safer pick. I also think Isaac vs Jackson is a legit discussion as well.

My tiers would go:

1st Tier:
A) Fultz
B) Ball

2nd Tier:
A) Tatum
B) Jackson
C) Isaac
D) Monk

3rd Tier:
A) Smith
B) Markannen

4th Tier:
A) Fox

4th Tier: Markkanen, Monk - Offensive beasts
5th Tier: Smith Jr., Jackson, Fox - Scrappy role players

I think three guys to keep an eye on are Issac, Fox, and Jackson. They'll probably go much higher then mocked. I don't really like Fox but he's a player GM's fall in love with.

Magic and Pelinka are going to do either of:

1)trade the #2 and Deng or Moz down for any one of the #4-6 and pick BPA, most likely Fox
Or
2)select Fox at #2

Fox isn't even BPA at 4-6...

You all guys know we're picking Ball because of his superstar potential and because Magic fell in love with him. Stop the debate, just accept the reality guys :D

Yeah I started
1st Tier: Fultz - Superstar
2nd Tier: Fox/Jackson- All-Star
3rd Tier: Ball/Tatum - Above-average starter

But after getting way more into it, I basically mirror your top 3 tiers but with DJS in at 2 with Tatum and Isaac below 3. Ball really does have the superstar ceiling more than any of the others.

He's a far better playmaker than McCollum. McCollum is about as good a play maker as Clarkson.

Do you bring that up with regards to him being a PG over SG at next level?

I think he's a lead guard as much as, Curry, Lillard, Harden or Westbrook are.

He'll have to start at SG in Boston through no fault of his own (isiah simply cannot play the 2 at his siz), but i definitely see him running point more throughout his career.

Well Harden was a SG till 7 years into his career...I can see that with Fultz. Especially if he has to wait till Thomas is gone.

Pay attention, Magic & Pelinka --

Jalen Rose: "Isn't it nice when your best player isn't ball dominant?"

We need a player like that.. good thing we'll be in position with #2.

Except that in most cases if your best player isn't ball dominant then you're in trouble.
