Re: Lakers 2016 NBA draft #2 pick discussion
I think if they trade Russ it's not going to be just for another top 5 pick, it's going to be part of a much larger deal.
Swapping Hield for Russ would be a lateral move at best.

People talk about trade Randle that, trade Randle this, but its seems Lakers FO high on Randle's potential and rightly so.
I think it's not Hield for Russell anyway, must be someone else

Ford is making a massive leap from the idea that we are working out more than one prospect for that spot.

Honestly there's no real way to figure out who the lakers are high on. Mitch said no one is untouchable on this team.

Russell > anyone in the draft this year.
Buddy has no business starting on the Lakers. Clarkson is ours to keep so no need for Buddy. Ingram fits our roster perfectly. We need a wing that can score and defend. INGRAM CAN DO THAT AND HES STILL 18 AND GROWING

Too much time between the Lottery and the Draft. Reporters are starting to get creative in the ways they're trying to fill the space by coming up with some random rumors. Trading D'Lo to try to get Heild, because D'Lo filmed something he should'nt have... LOL C'mon man. GTFOH!!!
99.9999% Simmons goes 1, Ingram goes 2, no one gets traded. Easy draft. Bring on free agency.

Ford's whole breakdown is that Simmons put on 20 lbs and Ingram is skinny... this wreaks of him either having an agenda or being a total tool who thinks weight=talent.
I think agenda... Ford said this before Durant was drafted:
He is the most talented prospect in the draft. He has it all: size, athleticism and a beautiful jump shot. But will someone really take him over Oden?
Ford on Simmons vs Ingram *warning explicit over man crush on Simmons physique and hypercritical analysis of Ingram based solely on physique ahead.

That extra workout with the Lakers is really moving the needle on Hield's perceived value, people talking about the lakers offering up DLo just to get another pick to get Hield, crazy.
To me it seems like it's as simple as the Lakers doing Rob Pelinka a favor or Pelinka cashing in a favor. You don't work as Kobes agent for so long and not build up some type of long favor backlog with the front office.

Hield isn't even likely to go in the top 5 and will likely land at 7 or 8. Ford's credibility is about as good as Magic's commentary.
Also goes to show you how terrible the drop off is at 3 when people like a senior in Kris Dunn are being considered for it. At that point i just take my chances on Murray or Brown and hope they by miracle achieve their ceilings.

It's strange that now its frowned upon to stay in college and develop and mature. Half of these young stars in the NBA could have benefited from maturing a little bit. The media often overhypes the top pick as well. Honestly in this draft anyone could be a bust easily. This isn't 84,96,03 this year. Simmons and Ingram are a gamble just like the others. They just appear to have the most potential.

Re: Lakers 2016 NBA draft #2 pick discussion
When they are putting better numbers as freshmen than a senior considered to go in the draft right after them, it isn't as much of a gamble. That's simply a huge difference in talent level. Kris Dunn was averaging 6/3 in 27mpg as a freshmen for crying out loud. I'd love to speculate what Ingram's and Simmons numbers as 4 year college players would be. Probably somewhere around 25-30 points 10-15 rebounds a game. lol

Re: Lakers 2016 NBA draft #2 pick discussion
Have they taken anyone other than Ingram out to dinner before their workout? Ingram is the only one I've read about (I'm sure they would have done this for Simmons as well and the fact I haven't read any dinners by no means says they didn't happen). Last year several players got the dinner treatment. I think they are locked in on the top two. I doubt they are looking to trade down but are doing their due diligence on other top picks in case an offer comes along that they feel they can not pass up. They need to know who they would want in such a case.

Why do people still listen to Ford after his sources and rumors have been proven wrong year after year?

Ingram had dinner twice with the Lakers. Lakers bringing in Buddy is simply what you said, doing their homework. Buddy and Kobe have the same agent and I'm sure Kobe pushed for Mitch to bring him in. Buddy didn't even have a good workout yesterday..
Additionally, teams share the expenses of bringing players from team to team for workouts. Lakers staying in good terms with Suns Wolves etc.

Re: Lakers 2016 NBA draft #2 pick discussion
Its probably a mix between due diligence, agent favors and keeping other teams on their toes.
But one thing to consider... If the Lakers do trade #2 for an all-star caliber player (the only way they are trading it) then the other team has to give the lakers a 1st round pick - its a weird rule from the cba because they didnt have a pick last year. So, there is a chance they could be pursuing cousins and the #8 pick. Obviously would take more than 2, but just a thought.

Re: Lakers 2016 NBA draft #2 pick discussion
The Lakers had a first round pick last year and have one this year but they don't have a guaranteed pick for next year and that's probably why they'd need a first round this year if they trade away the #2.
At this point there's nobody we can reasonably trade this year's first round pick for that I'd want instead of the pick. Having a superstar on your team is just too important not to gamble on Ingram becoming one.

I refuse to believe that the front office would mess up the easiest decision of the season by picking Hield over Ingram. If you're going to make the dumbest decision of the draft at least trade to get more assets. I have faith in the Lakers on this considering that they bucked the traditional big man trend last year and picked the playet with the most potential.

Sorry to butt into this discussion. Ingram is so intriguing with that length, but I have to believe Hield is a guaranteed all-star. It would take guts to take Hield over Ingram. I don't think I would do it, but I could see them thinking about it.
Good luck.
Good luck.

If we strike out in free agency, then this dude is gonna make it real easy to get over it. I'm hyped.
